Spooktacular Trick or Treat Event.  Jackson College welcomes the community to Central Campus for its Fourth Annual Halloween Trick or Treat Spooktacular!  Children 12 and under are invited Friday, Oct. 27, from 5:30-7 p.m. to gather treats. Guests are encouraged to dress in a Halloween costume (not required) and trick or treat through campus buildings. Parents should park in the Bert Walker Hall parking lot, off Emmons Road, and start in Bert Walker Hall. Handicapped accessible parking is available on south or north side (near college bookstore) of Potter Center. Strollers and wagons are permitted, the route is completely handicap accessible with all locations being on the first floor of each building; there will be no stairs to navigate. Children are encouraged to bring a Halloween pumpkin or bag.  Volunteers will be stationed throughout the campus to direct visitors on their way between buildings. At the end of the route, hot cocoa will be available in the Potter Center.  This is a free event for the community. Join us for a spooktacular good time! The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market, today and tomorrow from 8am to 2pm.  The market, featuring seasonal farmers and other vendors is at Grand River Marketplace, corner of Glick Highway and Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson.

The Jackson District Library offers Yoga at the Meijer Branch every Friday at 8:30 AM with Jeanette Lamphere. Suggested donation of $3. Intended for adults.

Yoga at the Spring Arbor Branch of the Jackson District Library today and every Friday at 9 AM with Amy Reamer.  Suggested donation of $5.

The Eastern Branch of the Jackson District Library has Yoga with Elizabeth Hall at 9 AM.  Class suggested for adults and seniors.  Suggested donation is $2.

Blue Jello with special guests The Ukulele Kings performing at The Jackson Coffee Company.  Free entertainment at this  Friday Music Series. This is a great listening room.  7 PM to 10 PM.  Jackson Coffee Company,  201 South Mechanic Street.

Friday Nights at Sandhill.  We are extending our hours Friday evenings until 10pm, come sit on the deck, enjoy a glass of wine, wine taste & grab some dinner!  The cafe will be open for orders until 9:30. Linen Ray will be here to entertain you, 6:30-8:30.  In addition to our new Friday evening hours, we will be launching Sangria specials every weekend Friday-Sunday.  No cover, just come join us for a relaxing evening.

S.A.R.A.H. presents a Formal Black Tie Charity Dinner: $60 each or $100 for couples. Includes a 3 course meal, and live performance by Therapy, live art auction with art donated by local artists, and raffles. Buy Michigan Now Fall Fest.  The Buy Michigan Now Fall Fest, presented by American 1 Credit Union, is an exciting event that highlights Michigan-made products and Michigan-based businesses in an effort to rejuvenate our local economy. It’s a great place to buy gifts and food for the holidays. National Drug Take Back Day at Center for Family Health.  We are hosting a National Drug Take Back Day in collaboration with the City of Jackson Police Department, Jackson County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, Jackson County Office of the Sheriff, and Center for Family Health.  Please bring your unused or expired prescription medication to the Center for Family Health in the city of Jackson for safe disposal on October 28th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  All over-the-counter medications, prescription medications, prescription patches, and vitamins are accepted.   Needles, Inhalers, Liquids, and Ointments are NOT accepted.  Center for Family Health, 505 North Jackson Street, Jackson.

Habitat for Humanity presents Make a Difference Day.   We will have home repair workshops that focus on home maintenance. Members of our construction crew will be available to do demonstrations and answer questions. Info will be available on free credit classes, steps in becoming a homeowner, for perspective homebuyers as well as info on other classes geared toward homeownership. Register for a free energy analysis & in home visit from Consumers Energy to lower your bill! Ribbon Cutting:  Summit Pet Supply.  The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize Summit Pet Supply on their upcoming Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, October 28th at 2161 Ferguson Rd Suite 108 Jackson, MI 49203 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.  Summit Pet Supply will be celebrating their recent opening with a store wide sale. Summit Pet Supply will be open on the 28th from 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. The Ribbon Cutting will start at 12:00 P.M. From 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. the Cascades Humane Society will have an option dog adoption at Summit Pet Supply.

Trunk or Treat at St. James Lutheran Church.  Cars will line the parking lot of St. James for our 4th annual Trunk or Treat! Come park your cars, open the trunk and fill it with candy, and enjoy the excitement of kids and grown-ups alike showing off their costumes and stocking up on sweets. Wisconsin Cheese Castle Halloween Party.  The First Annual Wisconsin Cheese Castle Halloween Party!!! Come on over and have some spooky fun! For the kids we are having a costume contest, games, bounce house and a pumpkin patch! The Wild World Zoo from Finerty Farms will also be bringing a petting zoo featuring Boomer the Kangaroo along with many more of his furry friends! We will also have the famous Flavor Fruit Farms Doughnuts and Apple Cider! Burning Bush Church Fall Harvest Festival.  This is a free Community Event. There will be a live petting zoo, bounce house, popcorn, cotton candy, face painting and lots of fun for the kids. We will also have give aways, a lot of free information about resources that are available to our community, and some medical screenings.  2 PM to 5 PM, 260 West Prospect Street, Jackson.

Trunk or Treat at Jackson Free Methodist Church.  Saturday, October 28 from 3-5pm. Join us for games, food, inflatables, and of course candy.  Jackson Free Methodist Church, 2829 Park Drive, Jackson.

Monster Mash at Rivertree Church.  Bring your Cute Little Monsters to Rivertree for Games, Music, Fun,  Snacks and of course CANDY!  Last year we had a huge crowd, which was awesome! This year we have added an extra hour, made plans to make parking smoother as well as make your experience more enjoyable! It’s going to be all that and a bag of candy! Fall Festival at Grace Church.  Community-wide event for families with children ages 2-12 years  Games, Refreshments, Crafts, & Fun!  This FREE event will feature a trail of game show-themed and Bible-based game stations with prizes of candy.  **Non-scary costumes encouraged**  This event will be held in the children’s & gym areas around the back of the church.  Please enter at the far north end of the parking lot, under the last portico.  6 PM to 8 PM.  Grace Church, 2692 N Dettman Road, Jackson.

Soirée Macabre Art Show , 6-10 p.m. Free Admission. Located in the Special Events Room at Grand River Brewery  Join us on Saturday, October 28th for a Halloween-themed pop-up art show featuring some of the creepiest, spookiest artwork around.  Please feel inspired to come in costume, as it IS Halloween weekend!  All Ages Welcome. Be aware that some artworks may be disturbing for certain audiences.

He’s the Rock that Doesn’t Roll:  The Early History of Christian Music.  Harvey Zook continues his lecture series with the music of Paul Clark, a pioneer of rock music from the 70s and 80s. The Buy Michigan Now Fall Fest, presented by American 1 Credit Union, is a family-friendly event that features Michigan-made products, tasty treats, entertainment, games, and children’s activities. Michigan-made products range from art to books, clothing to pet accessories, food to home decor, and more. Come on out for food and fun and support local businesses. Together we are revitalizing the economy, one product, one purchase, one person at a time. Champion of GSN’s show Steampunk’d, and Jackson’s own, Ed Thayer, (a.k.a. Steampunk Eddie) will reveal his latest creation, The Great Steampunk Smash!  Buy Michigan Now Fall Fest hours are:  Saturday, October 28, 2017, 11AM-5PM, Sunday, October 29, 2017 10AM-4PM.  Admission and parking are free. Vendors will be selling products inside the American 1 Event Center.
