Grand Rivers Farmers Market.  The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market.  Local produce, crafts, flowers, plants, baked goods and more.  9 AM to 2 PM Friday and Saturday.  Corner of Glick and Mechanic, along the Grand River.  Please practice social distancing and wear a mask.  Every Friday and Saturday through October.

Carter’s Voice Glow Run/Walk/5K.  Saturday, August 15.  This 5K is in memory of Carter Buffum, a 7 year old boy who lost his battle with Mitochondrial Disease on May 19th, 2016. After he passed away, his mother got a call from the funeral home and was told that Ike & Ella Fund had donated towards his funeral expenses. It’s 4 years later and his mother is organizing and hosting this event to raise money to donate back to Ike & Ella Fund! Please join us for a fun, family event at Cascades Park in Jackson, MI. There will be a timed 5K, kids 100 yard dash, raffles, DJ, face painting and more! Swag bags include an event T-shirt and glow stick! All proceeds will be donated to Ike & Ella Fund.  Location: Cascades Falls Park Pavilion 1401 S. Brown St. Jackson.  Registration check-in begins at 6:00 p.m.  Kids 100 yard dash starts at 6:30 p.m.  5K for runners begins at 7:00 p.m.  5K for walkers begins at 7:15 p.m.  Raffle tickets are for sale from 5:30 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.  Medals will be given at 8:15 p.m.  Event ends at 9:00 p.m.  Details and registration here.

Free 2% Milk Distribution.  Saturday, August 15.  The mild is available to everyone, with a limit of 2 gallons per family.  All are welcome.  Also, while supplies last:  bread, cheese, butter, sour cream pancake mix.  Saturday, 9 AM to 12 Noon, St. John School Parking Lot, 405 E. North Street.  This is a drive-thru event, follow the directions of volunteers.  Sponsors include Knights of Columbus, H.E.H. Hope Flows Free Milk Distribution and Fry Krisp Food Products.

Free Food Distribution.  Saturday, August 15.  The Dungytreei Heritage Foundation is on the move to help end hunger by bringing a mobile food pantry distribution to provide for our community.  Schedule: Every third Saturday. 12:00-2:00 p.m.  Oasis of Love Full Gospel Church (parking lot), 800 S. Cooper Street, Jackson.  Eligibility Requirements: None.  You will be able to pick up free food such as, meat, nutritious produce, and more! Simply drive up and a volunteer will load your vehicle for you. If you are homebound and/or if transportation is an issue and you need delivery, please don’t hesitate to call (517) 240-3511.

“Popcorn Drive Up Pick Up” Friday, August 14 at the Michigan Theatre.  Pull up on Mechanic Street (under the Michigan Theatre Marquee) between 5:00 and 6:30 P.M.  For your Free Box (or boxes) of Michigan Theatre POPCORN!
