Ella Sharp Museum Free Admission.  Free Admission for the month of August! The museum has received a generous donation from an anonymous donor to provide free admission for the entire month of August. Come by the museum this month to enjoy our galleries and the Hurst Planetarium.

Marcus & Tiffany Shelton at Veritas.  6 PM to 9 PM.  Marcus and Tiffany Shelton are classically trained singers who have been married for over 20 years. In his longtime opera career, Marcus was honored to sing on stages around the world, and with some of the biggest names in the business; and Tiffany has largely focused her music degree and velvety pipes on jazz and musical theatre. They will be performing their signature mix of genres and styles, including: classic rock, opera, 90s alternative, mellow 70s gold, country, big band favorites, and more! John Louis Good Live at Ironbark. 7 PM to 10 PM.  “John Louis Good is from Jackson–Michigan’s “Rose City.” Good performs Americana and Rockabilly music that straddles the 20th Century and original works that reflect the places he has been and the friends he has met along the way. His influences include Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry and Carl Perkins.”  2610 Kibby Road, Jackson.

ORS Race Series:  Run Clark Lake. Welcome to the 49th running at beautiful Clark Lake. Come join us in an Olympic Celebration! Our 49th year is being held during XXX111 Olympic Games in Paris, France. All runners want to run their best in an Olympic year and it’s only fitting that you runners get your shot of a great venue in an Olympic year. Run your best at Clark Lake 2024. An event that promises to deliver excitement and memories. You will enjoy our USATF certified courses that encompass the lake on gently rolling hills with breathtaking lake front views. We have been road racing at Clark Lake since 1976 with the original CL-7. Truly one of Michigan’s premier running events. You will enjoy our post-race party and awards ceremony at the Beach Bar Patio on the shore of Clark Lake. All races will be chipped timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. The proceeds from this event will be used for the continued progress and maintenance of the Thomas R. Collins Memorial Spirit Trail.   participants and your dogs. Thank you. Jackson Interfaith Shelter Block Party.  11:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Jackson Interfaith Shelter Parking Lot414 S. Blackstone St., Jackson. You’re invited! We’re hosting our fourth annual Jackson Interfaith Shelter Block Party! Thank you to our event sponsors Emmons Service, Inc., Consumers Energy, American 1 Credit Union and HOME.fm for making this a FREE community event. We will be hosting guided tours of the shelter throughout the event, and would love to show you the updates we’ve made over the last four years. We will have food, live music, inflatables, a foam party, face paintings, ice cream and much more!

100 Homes Program Community Event.  9 AM to 11:30 AM  Community Housing Event on Saturday, Aug. 3, 9-11:30 a.m. at the MLK Recreation Center for the community to learn more about the 100 Homes Program. Cory Mays, Grant Coordinator for the City of Jackson, will be at the event to answer questions about the program. Representatives from County National Bank and American 1 Credit Union will also be on site to answer mortgage or finance-related questions. You do not need to be a City of Jackson resident to qualify for 100 Homes. Initial program requirements are based on household size and income. After meeting program qualifications and securing a mortgage, home buyers are connected to builders who are constructing new homes in Jackson capped at $175,000. The City of Jackson is offering $25,000 in down payment assistance for the homes, and some buyers may qualify for an additional $10,000 in down payment assistance from the State of Michigan. Pedal & Whine Albion Malleable Bike Tour.  Registration begins at 7:30 AM.  Join us for the inaugural Pedal & Whine – Albion Malleable tour and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the award-winning chefs at the Albion Malleable Brewing Company. Parking for this ride will be 1 block north of Albion Malleable and just east of Superior St. between Erie and Cass Streets. Summer Discover Finale Festival. Join the Jackson District Library for a Summer Discover celebration in downtown Jackson on August 3!  Party in the Park: 11 AM-2 PM, Horace Blackman Park.  Enjoy live music, yard games and a bounce house.  Music Line-Up:  11 AM: Steve & Brian Tucker, 12 PM: Tiffany & Marcus Shelton, 1 PM: The Van Buren Boys.  There will be a 15-minute break between sets.  Free and open to all!

Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition.  12 PM to 5 PM.  1st Annual Catch My Vibe Radio Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition. Date: August 3rd, 2024 Location: 3200 Wildwood Ave. Jackson. Participants include local artists, families, and art enthusiasts of all ages! This event looks to bring a beautiful day of art, vendors, food trucks and kid friendly activities! We are welcoming Dj Gen Vegas, aka Big Man Genesis Terrell to ensure the VIBES are great! Grass Lake Hydroplane Boat Races. “Wet & Wild Regatta” Hydroplane Race part of the Michigan Hydroplane Racing Association. It has been held for over 40 years on Grass Lake in Grass Lake, 373 N Lake St, Grass Lake, MI 49240.  Outboard hydroplane races on Grass Lake.  Speeds of up to 75 mph.  Racing will be roughly 10:30am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.  Entry to watch the races is free!  There will be a concession stand serving breakfast and lunch 8am-4pm both days. The Grass Lake event will feature the marathon racing, as well as Stock and J short course racing.  373 N Lake St, Grass Lake.

Brooke Dunning Benefit 50 Endurance Race. 5 PM to 8 PM.  The Jackson Speedway is proud to announce it will host the Brooke Dunning Benefit event organized by Great Lakes Super Supermoto.  To all you motorcycle enthusiasts come out and enjoy the event and tell all your friends.  $10 gate fee for spectators.  Food trucks and raffles. Clark Lake Raft-O-Rama & Chicken BBQ. 10 AM.  Raft-O-Rama Clark Lake starting at Eagle Point Marina, 1155 Eagle Point Road, Clark Lake.  Live music by Act III.  The Lions Club offers a chicken BBQ for $15.
