Fly on the Ford.  Experience the Golden Age of Aviation.  Recall the energy, passion, and excitement of the Roaring ’20s by flying aboard the Ford Tri-Motor. Known as the first luxury airliner, the Ford Tri-Motor redefined world travel and marked the beginning of commercial flight.  All ticket proceeds support the Experimental Aircraft Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing The Spirit of Aviation with everyone. Our tour stops are hosted by volunteers who are passionate about sharing the Ford Tri-Motor’s stories.  We invite families to visit and learn all about our aircraft and our organization. Viewing the aircraft is free, so be sure to bring your camera along.  Today at Jackson County Airport Reynolds Field.  Rides 9 AM to 5 PM.  Adults $70, child (17 and under) $50 advance online pricing at flytheford.org.  Walk up price $75.  Hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Grand River Farmers Market.  The Grand River Farmers Market season goes from June 2nd until October. Every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 am until 2 pm at the corner of Louis Glick & Mechanic St.  The market is full of MICHIGAN GROWN PRODUCE including fresh vegetables, fruits, organic goods, vegan cookies, muffins, granola, honey, jams, breads, pastas, jewelry, dog treats, salsas, fruit pies, sweet corn, tomatoes, hanging flower baskets, blueberries, maple syrup, chard, broccoli, peas, mums, and much more!

Jammin’ in Jackson and Family Film Night at CP Federal City Square in Horace Blackman Park, Downtown Jackson.  Jammin’ in Jackson is featuring music by FLYTE from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  The movie “Star Wars The Force Awakens” will begin at dark. The event is FREE and open to the public.   Bring a lawn chair or a blanket!  Concessions will be available.  Thank you to Experience Jackson, Alro Steel Corporation, Consumers Energy, Tripp’s Auto Shop, Jackson Anchor Initiative, CP Federal Credit Union, County National Bank, Downtown Jackson, and Michigan Theatre of Jackson for making this events possible. 

Live Entertainment at The Jackson Coffee Company.  Tonight’s performer is Steve Berkemeier.  For more than 20 years now, Berkemeier has combined the strength of his original songs with popular, classic and contemporary songs by other artists, to entertain audiences all over the State of Michigan and Ohio. His frequent appearances at area festivals and venues have made him one of the region’s most popular entertainers.  7 PM to 10 PM, corner of Mechanic and Cortland Street, downtown Jackson.

Explore the gallery with a complimentary beverage while you engage in the artistic creativity of Carrie Ellison.  Carrie loves to Reuse, Recycle, and Repurpose; creating affordable, beautiful, abstract art made with everyday household items (tissue paper, coffee grounds, dirt, sand, house paint, toothpaste, egg shells – basically anything to give texture without the high cost).  Experience this quirky, unique artwork tonight at The Orange Peacock Gallery during the End of Summer – R3 Art Sale going on now thru September 29th!   5 PM to 8 PM, Orange Peacock Gallery, 120 West Michigan Avenue, Downtown Jackson.

Friday Night Skate & Laser Tag.  Friday Night.  All Music is Censored before 9pm.  12yrs old & older ONLY after 9pm.  6:00-9:00pm  Adm $8.  8:00-11:00pm Adm $10.  6-11pm Adm: $15 (12 years old and older only after 9pm).  While you’re there play some Laser Tag & check out our really cool Game Room and try to win some very awesome prizes! Hauntings at the Hackett.  Join us for a public investigation and ghost hunting (conducted by Motor City Ghost Hunters) at the historic up-and-coming Hackett Auto Museum. There are three sessions to choose from: 8-9 p.m., 9:30-10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.-midnight.  This is your chance to experience first hand how a paranormal investigation happens.  Be among the first to investigate the former Hackett factory prior to re-development.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own ghost hunting equipment.  Learn about the rich automotive history of this historic Jackson location.  All proceeds benefit the Hackett Auto Museum. Must be 18 years or older to participate. Tickets can be purchased on our website at hackettautomuseum.org.

Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Show.  Join us for our Labor Day Firework Show at The Cascades! Gates will open at 6pm.  Live entertainment by Act III is well known for their variety of music genres and strong vocal harmonies.  Fireworks will start at dusk with the Grand Light Show to follow!  Gift Shop, Museum, Concession stand, and Splash Pad (weather permitting) will be open.

Model Train Benefit Open House. 2 PM to 5 PM.  Admission by free will offering to benefit Jackson Habitat for Humanity and Jackson Chorale Music Scholarships.  The model train layout features 16 “O” scale Lionel running model trains.  10461 Pauline Drive, Napoleon township. (corner of Wolf Lake Road and Pauline Drive).

Vineyard Jam with Phoenix Theory at Cherry Creek Winery.  The Phoenix Theory, a dance band from Livonia. Bringing a wealth of talent and experience from their previous musical endeavors, the members of The Phoenix Theory have come together to form one of Detroit’s newest premier cover bands.  3PM to 6PM.  11500 Silver Lake Highway, Brooklyn.
