Grand River Farmers Market.  9 AM to 2 PM.  Corner of Glick and Mechanic Streets, Downtown Jackson.  Local farmers, fresh produce, crafts, plants, flowers and vendors.

Fun in the Sun. 1 PM to 3 PM.  I scream, you scream, we all scream for Chalk Art and Ice Cream! Join us at the Jackson District Library Eastern Branch to decorate our sidewalks with chalk art, watch an artist do a chalk art demonstration, and afterward, cool off from the summer heat with DIY Ice Cream in a bag.

Late Night Friday at Sandhill Crane Vineyards.  Begin August with a hometown favorite, Steve & Brian Tucker, playing live from 6-9 pm. 9th Annual Pedal & Whine Bike Tour.  Sandhill Crane Vineyards. Join us for this very popular, fully supported ride that has grown significantly since our first event in 2013.  Enjoy bicycling along the scenic, lightly traveled roads of eastern Jackson county and the Waterloo Recreation area.  With routes of 11, 16, 29, 31, 53 and 68 miles, cyclists can choose to ride as much or as little as they like. In addition, the 29 mile will take riders to the village of Stockbridge along the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail. All routes are fully supported by roving “SAG” vehicles so participants can ride worry-free. Presented by Cascades Cycling Club.   You can register online for this event here.

Clark Lake Run.  The 46th running at beautiful Clark Lake.  You will enjoy our USATF certified courses that encompass the lake on gently rolling hills with breathtaking lakefront views.  Come see why we have been selected as one of Michigan’s premier summer races. Our post-race party and award ceremony on the Beach Bar patio is one to enjoy.  All races will be chipped timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.  The proceeds from this event will be used for the continued progress and maintenance of the Thomas R. Collins Memorial Spirit Trail.  Packet Pick Up: Friday, August 5th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Beach Bar 3509 Ocean Beach Rd Clark Lake. WWII in Their Own Words.  10 AM.  Learn about the experiences of those who lived through WWII in an interview presented by local historian Larry Martin at the Carnegie Library.  Larry has interviewed everyone from U.S. veterans, to Hungarian underground fighters, to European citizens. “WWII In Their Own Words” has been presented at the Jackson District Library for almost 15 years, and we are always proud to partner with Larry on this wonderful program.  Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.

Jackson Interfaith Shelter Block Party.  11 AM to 3 PM.  You’re invited! We’re hosting our second annual Jackson Interfaith Shelter Block Party on August 6 from 11:00-3:00. Miss Jackson Crossroads and Outstanding Teen Pageant.  6 PM. The Miss Jackson Crossroads and Outstanding Teen Scholarship Competition is a program committed to building leadership skills, engage in community service, promote awareness of social concerns, and provide educational scholarships to women ages 13-26.  Come join us for an evening of inspiration, energy, entertainment, and achievement as thirteen brilliant women take the stage to earn the job of Miss Jackson Crossroads and Miss Jackson Crossroads Outstanding Teen.  Tickets:  $20 at the door.  Western Community Arts Center, 1400 S. Cascades Rotary Community Bandshell Concert Series.  All concerts start at 7 pm at the Cascades.  Free!  Tonight, the Jackson French Quarter Dixieland Band.  Specializing in traditional Dixieland Jazz, bringing upbeat musical selections that will be sure to entertain!

2022 Run to the Fair.  Escort the Michigan Traveling Wall honoring the 2,662 Michigan residents KIA in Vietnam.  Gather at the Holiday Inn Express, 3506 O’Neill Drive, Jackson.  Kick stands up at 10 AM!

Jackson County Fair.  Opening Day.  12 PM.  August 5-11, 2022.  Fair exhibits, food vendors, entertainment and more!  (carnival rides begin Monday).  There is so much to experience at the Jackson County Fair located on Keeley Park in Jackson, Michigan.  Come out and enjoy a day or two at the fair! Jackson County Fair Grandstand Show.  Comedy icons, Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy, will make a stop at the Jackson County Fair on Sunday, August 7th, 2022 for an unforgettable and laughter-packed evening of entertainment.  Gates open at 5:30pm and the show begins at 7:00pm.  Ticket prices range from $50.00 to $82.00. 61st Annual Clark Lake Raft-O-Rama.  10 AM.  Decorated rafts begin at Eagle Point and parade around Clark Lake.  The theme this year is Landmarks and Amazing Places.  A chicken BBQ by the Clark Lake Lions Club, music and children’s activities follow.

Firekeepers Casino 400.  The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Michigan International Speedway for the FireKeepers Casino 400! Drivers put it all on the line in the Manufacturers’ Backyard for a chance to take home the Michigan Heritage Trophy.
