Friday, August 7

Grand River Farmers Market at the Downtown Pavilion. 9 AM to 2 PM.  On Fridays, you can visit the Grand River Farmers Market at the downtown pavilion, located in the parking lot of Grand River Brewery. The Friday market is open from 9 am until 2 pm.  With familiar faces, seasonal produce, and local makers, the market is a vibrant place to shop, connect, and support our local farmers. As we look ahead, Grow Jackson is focused on expanding access to local food, creating year-round opportunities, and making every market visit a fun and meaningful experience for all.

Our Lady of Fatima Rummage Sale. 9 AM to 5 PM.  Our Lady of Fatima Church – Michigan Center.  Join us for our 19th annual giant Rummage Sale!  Thousands of items spread across 15,000+ square feet — treasures for every room, every hobby, and every age. Thursday, August 6: 9 AM to 5 PM, Friday, August 7: 9 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday, August 8: 9 AM to 1 PM. Come early, browse often, and don’t miss one of the biggest rummage sales in the area. Raised on the Radio:  Songs of the 70’s. 7:30 PM.  Live theatre returns with Raised on the Radio: Songs of the 70s! Turn it up for a cabaret-style live music performance celebrating the rock, funk, and soul sounds of the 1970s. Starring:  Matt Davis, Bryan Fowler, Kerrie Manders, Lori Pelham, Sherra Zuck.  Band Members: John Lynch – Guitar, Jacob Vaillancourt – Drums.  Tickets:  $23 per ticket Tickets on sale now here.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Footloose at the Sauk.  8 PM.  When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind. Directed by Trinity Bird. Musical Direction by Kristi Gautsche. Choreography by Sarah Kilgore. This production is sponsored by Walmart, Olivia’s Chop House and Saucy Dog Barbecue. The orchestra sponsors is Moore Insurance Services. 240 E Chicago St, Jonesville.

Saturday, August 8

Grand River Farmers Market at River & Rail. 9 AM to 2 PM.  The Grand River Farmer’s Market is now open on Saturdays from 9 am until 2 pm at the NEW River & Rail Farm Stop, at 137 W. North St., Jackson, MI 49202 (located inside the walls of the Historic State Prison near Art 634). Plenty of parking! Victims of Violent Crime Memorial.  11 AM.  Please join us for a brief rededication of the Victims of Violent Crime Memorial.  All are welcome to attend this important event.  Cascades Park, on Randolph Street, west of the intersection of W. High Street and Randolph Street.  Please park on Randolph Street.  Rain or Shine.

2026 Textile Exhibit Opening. Presented by the Albion Arts Center.  Doors open 11 AM to 2 PM.  Exhibit runs through August 29th with showings on Thursday and Fridays from 4 to 7 PM and Saturdays from 11 AM to 2 PM.  Located at 107 East Cass Street, Albion.

Dahlem’s Birds, Blooms, and Butterflies Festival. 9 AM to 3 PM. This annual outdoor festival will include a wide variety of outdoor learning opportunities and activities for all ages, including live animal exhibits, environmental education programs (birds, blooms, butterflies, honeybees and pollinators, etc.), nature walks, native plants, children’s crafts, live music, food vendors, and more.  Free!  7117 S. Back to School Supply Giveaway.  1 PM to 3 PM.  Getting ready for a new school year can be tough on a family budget, but you don’t have to do it alone! Our community is coming together to make sure every local student starts the school year with confidence, excitement, and the tools they need to succeed.  Join us on for a completely FREE Back to School Supply Giveaway open to all families in the Jackson area. (First-come, first-served while supplies last): Free backpacks, Essential school supplies, Kids’ clothing and coats.  This event is all about bringing neighbors together to support our kids. 250 Years of America with the Capital City Brass Band.  Come join us for a free afternoon of music AND ice cream at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Road,  where we will take you on a journey through the years of America as we celebrate 250 years of America this summer!! Swingin’ at the Shell Summer Concert Series.  6 PM.    For more than two decades, the Swingin’ at the Shell concert series has brought families, friends, and music lovers together at Albion’s historic Victory Park Bandshell. What began as a community initiative supported by Caster Concepts has grown into one of Southern Michigan’s longest-running free outdoor concert traditions. Tonight, Angela Davis & Class Act, *R&B & Original Music*. All performances begin at **6:00 p.m.** at the historic **Victory Park Bandshell**, Veterans Way, Albion, Michigan.  Free!  Bring a lawn chair!

Concord Farmers Market. Sundays, 11am-2pm, June – October.  Gottschalk Park, 420 Homer Rd, Concord.  The Concord Farmers’ Market exists to cultivate community, support local growers and makers, and increase access to fresh food and meaningful goods.
