Hanging of the Greens.  7 to 10 PM.  Spring Arbor University will host the 22nd annual Hanging of the Greens tonight! It’s a fun night filled with Christmas music, candle lighting, fireworks, and a community reception that includes horse and wagon rides, balloon artists, kids’ activities, roasted almonds, cookies, cocoa, and more! The event begins with a concert at The Arbor Church featuring students from our music department. Following the concert, everyone will walk to the university plaza for a candle lighting and “Silent Night” sing-a-long. Fireworks will follow the candle lighting and kick off the community Christmas party. The School of Education faculty and students will provide fun Christmas activities for kids, horse and wagon rides will carry guests through campus, cookies, cocoa and other yummy Christmas treats will be served, and more! All events are free and open to the general public. All ages are encouraged to attend. Parking is available at The Arbor Church.

Columbia Central presents “CLUE”.  Columbia Central High School Auditorium.  CLUE is a murder mystery comedy.  The performance is based on the movie from 1985, which is based on the board game. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 PM. Matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM.  Tickets:  Adults $10, Students and Seniors $7.  Columbia Central staff free.  Family of 4 Rate $30 (additional members are $5 each).

Miracle on 34th Street at the Croswell.  Written by Meredith Willson (“The Music Man”) and based on the movie of the same name, this holiday classic is sure to put you in the mood for Christmas! “Miracle on 34th Street” is returning to the Croswell stage for the first time in 10 years.  Dates and times: Friday at 7:30 p.m.  Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at 7:30 p.m.  Croswell Opera House, 129 E. Young People of Purpose 6th Annual Fall Fundraiser.  Come out and Celebrate with us at this Community Celebration!   It has been an Awesome year!   5:30 pm.  Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 1107 Adrian St, Jackson.  Full dinner included.  $20 at the door.  Music, spoken word, prizes, auction.  Fun for all!

Parma Antique Mall Christmas Open House.  6  – 8 PM.  Parma Antique Mall, 124 W Main St, Parma.  Join us for some Christmas magic as we get ready for the season of cheer! Music & light refreshments and a very good time!  Featuring sales in some of our dealers booths & some special things we might have up our sleeves!

Music Notes Annual Christmas Concert.  7 PM to 9 PM.  Arbor Grove Congregational Church, 2621 McCain Rd, Jackson.  Join Arbor Grove Congregational Church for their annual Christmas Concert! The students have been working very hard and are excited to share their work with you.  Admission is $15.  With a donation of an item to the food pantry or the Jackson County Animal Shelter, take $5 off admission.  Wear a fun Christmas sweater and then get even more savings!  Santa and Mrs. Claus will help us out throughout the evening.

Home for the Holidays Decorated House Event.  Mann House, Concord.   Public Hours:  December 2 to December 11, 2022.  Home for the Holidays Event – The holidays are here, and the Mann House will be decorated and open to the public free of charge on the following dates and times:  Friday, December 2, 6 to 8, Saturday, December 3, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8, Sunday, December 4, 2 to 6.  Mann House, 205 Hanover Street, Concord.  Admission is free.  The home is located in a residential neighborhood and does not have a dedicated parking lot. Parking is available on the street or at the neighboring First Presbyterian Church and Concord United Methodist Church during the Home for the Holidays events. 

DDA Holiday Window Decorating Contest.  Downtown Jackson is celebrating the holidays with creative window displays at stores, restaurants and other businesses/organizations throughout the Downtown.  This year’s theme is “Winter Wonderland”.  You are invited to vote for your favorite window display on social media.  Voting runs though December 21 and winners announced on December 23.  Visit Downtown Jackson!

Horizon Exhibit.  The Ella Sharp Museum is thrilled to be the premier location for this amazing new traveling exhibition from the Museum of Special Art (MOSA).  The Horizon Exhibition features an eclectic collection of realistic, modern and abstract works from 18 different artists from across the U.S., Spain, and Canada. This exhibition is one that will truly leave you inspired as our community celebrates the gifts and talents of artists of differing abilities. The Ella Sharp Museum is dedicated to embracing and sharing artwork from all individuals. This exhibition is an example of inclusivity of work from a variety of artists of all ages with various experiences and abilities.  Open during museum hours.

Stuff a Cop Car.  The Jackson County Office of the Sheriff in conjunction with the Salvation Army and Polly’s Country Market will host a, “Stuff a Cop Car,” with groceries event to help families in need for the holidays.  11A – 3P.  Polly’s – 2119 Ferguson Road, Jackson   We are collecting food to help feed families in Jackson County and could use your help.  Please come out and help to see that no one goes hungry in our community.  Suggested Items:  Canned green beans, corn, peas, sweet potatoes, gravy, cranberry, canned fruits and soups, dried cereals, instant oatmeal, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, canned meat, juice, juice boxes.  

St. John’s Vendor/Craft Show.  Saturday, December 3rd from 10am – 4pm.  $2.00 admission. The gym and halls will be filled with great crafts and gifts.  405 E. North Street, Jackson.  Please use the North St. entrance for entry to the show.

Breakfast with Santa.  8 AM to 10 AM.  Grass Lake Charter Township Fire Department, 12222 E Michigan Ave, Grass Lake.  Join Santa for a PANCAKE BREAKFAST at the Grass Lake Fire Dept. Breakfast is a Free Will Donation or toy for Toys for Tots.

14th Annual MIS Cares Charity Track and Toy Drive.  9 AM – 1 PM.  Michigan International Speedway.  Donate a non-perishable food item or a new, unwrapped toy in exchange for a drive around the track in your personal vehicle! The event supports the Brooklyn Food Pantry, St Mary’s of Good Counsel Parish Food Pantry,  Jackson County Toys for Tots, and Lenawee County Toys for Tots.  Enter off US-12 Highway. Eastbound use gate 8; Westbound use main entrance lot 10.

Ella Sharp Museum Holiday Market.  Support small businesses during our Holiday Market!  Our Holiday Market and December Ceramics Sale is a unique boutique style pop up market for local artists and crafters to showcase their work, as well as an opportunity for the community to support and promote local business and entrepreneurship. Located inside Ella Sharp Museum, a portion of every purchase will go to support the museum which has served our community well for so many years. See a curated selection of quality, hand-crafted goods from artisans near and far.  10 AM to 5 PM.

Winter Night Sky Tour & Auroras.  Ever look up at the night sky and think to yourself, “wow, I wonder what’s out there.” Join us at the Hurst planetarium as we transform the dome into the winter sky. We’ll cover tips and tricks for getting around the night sky and things to look for as well. Best part is you won’t even need a telescope! Everything in this presentation can be done simply by looking up!  Price: $5 for adults, free for members, free for children 3 and under.  1pm & 3pm Saturday and Sunday.  Hurst Planetarium, Ella Sharp Museum.  Details and tickets here.

Grass Lake Festival of Lights.  Come visit the village of Grass Lake! Watch as Santa arrives at the Depot on a firetruck, enjoy breakfast with Santa, or find him around town for photos! Go on a Cookie Tour all around the Village or visit the lighted Fairy Forest. There is also a Winter Market with Seasonal Keepers vendors, food trucks, fire pits to roast marshmallows, and a Christmas Tree Walk.  Later in the evening we have Festival of Lights parade and lighting of the Christmas tree downtown. Details and schedule here.

Festival of Lights Cookie Tour.  10 AM to 1 PM.  Lost Railway Museum, 142 W Michigan Ave, Grass Lake.  Join us on the Annual COOKIE TOUR by picking up your family Passport & Map at LOST RAILWAY MUSEUM 142 W Michigan Ave in Grass Lake!  Visit participating businesses throughout the village to gather sweet treats and collect passport stamps from each location. Then return your completed passport to the depot for a chance to WIN a sweet gift basket!  Be sure to thank the businesses that participate because without them there would be no cookies!

The Polar Express.  Explore Grass Lake’s Lost Railway Museum and watch the Christmas classic, The Polar Express at 2 PM. Popcorn provided! Presented by the Jackson District Library.

Christmas Town Craft Show.  10 AM to 4 PM.  American 1 Event Center.  Join us for our 2nd Annual Christmas Town Craft Show at the brand new American 1 Event Center located at 128 W. Ganson Street, Jackson.  Admission: $3/person.

Christmas in the Villages 1 PM to 5 PM.  Conklin Reed Organ & History Museum, 105 Fairview Street, Hanover.  Open House!  Free Admission.

Christmas on the Farm.  10 AM – 5 PM.  Waterloo Farm and Dewey School Museum, 13493 Waterloo Munith Rd, Grass Lake.  The Waterloo Area Historical Society will host its annual “Christmas on the Farm and at Dewey School” on Saturday, December 3rd, from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Sunday, December 4th, from 10 to 5 P.M. This re-creation of the holiday’s traditions will include tours of the ten-room farmhouse, the authentic log house, and eight outbuildings. Hand-decorated greens, home-made baked goods, and gift items will be available for purchase. Live music will be among the offerings for this homespun weekend. Full concessions will also be available.  Grounds admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (62+), $2 for children age 5 to 12. Children under 5 and WAHS members are free.

Sunday, December 4

Home for the Holidaze.  4:00 PM.  Michigan Theatre of Jackson.  Produced by: Out of The Box Theater/Annissa Sumner.  A comical look at the holiday season over the last 50 years. Using a unique blend of drama, music, dance, and poetry to cover everything from the gifts to the get-togethers! Featuring talented residents right from Jackson, MI, this is a wonderful Christmas experience for the whole family!  Featuring musical performances under the direction of Larry (Big L) Sumner with many local artists.$9 admission, $5 student/seniors, Family of three or more $25.  Bring a toy and receive a FREE SMALL COMBO.  All ages show. Community Swim at JHS Aquatic Center.  Have You Tried the Viking Pool? The Jackson YMCA has teamed up with Jackson Public Schools to offer our members and the community time in this beautiful new aquatics center. Sessions include:  10 am- 12pm Lap swim/water walking.  12 pm – 3 pm Family Swim  Be a part of the great things happening at the Jackson YMCA! Christmas in the City.  12 PM to 4 PM.  Downtown Jackson.  Free family fun and holiday shopping!  While you holiday shop, enjoy the free family activities. A visit with Santa and free crafts at Lean Rocket Lab. Right nearby is his reindeer! Twinn Pines Carriage will give free horse and carriage rides downtown (pick up and drop off at Jackson and Pearl). Once Upon A Dream Photography will be with Santa if you want to purchase an awesome holiday photo, and Beck’s Flower Shop will fill Lean Rocket with poinsettias sales.  You can look for the Kelly Auto red holiday truck and drop of your letters to Santa at his direct-to-North Pole mailbox!

Holiday Open House.  4 PM to 7 PM.  Stewart Farm Museum.  6:00 PM – Christmas Tree Lighting.  Veterans Christmas Tree Lighting (corner of M-50 and Woodard Road, Downtown Tompkins Center), 10138 Tompkins Rd., Rives Junction.  Join us in Downtown Tompkins to sing Christmas carols, then proceed to the museum for hot chocolate and enjoy delicious cookies. We will host our annual Christmas Tree Lighting to celebrate the Christmas season beginning. Everyone is welcome! This is our annual Veteran’s Memorial Celebration.  The tree is decorated with the names of Veterans from our area, or any Veterans whose names we are able to get. Please email to the website address any names that you would like to have on the tree. Veterans are either from current service or from any military situation.
