Fire Station 2 Open House.  The City of Jackson Fire Department invites the community to an Open House at Fire Station 2, 1906 Carl Breeding Way, on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. This event provides an opportunity for residents to meet local firefighters, tour the freshly renovated station, and learn more about fire safety and emergency response, we will be signing residents up for smoke alarm installations.   Enjoy complimentary coffee, water, and donuts while picking up fire safety bags and other swag. Meet first responders and get an inside look at the vital work they do to keep Jackson safe. This event is open to all ages, and no RSVP is required.

Grand River Farmers Market.  9 AM to 2 PM.  Seasonal veggies & fruits, fresh flowers, meats, cheeses, breads, sweets, and all kinds of other wonderful things! Corner of Mechanic and Glick, Downtown Jackson.

12 Hour Charity Radiothon for Jackson YMCA Youth Programs. 6 AM to 6 PM.  Join K105.3 for a heartwarming day of community, compassion, and giving back! K105.3 is raising funds for 12 straight hours on Friday, May 9th from 6am until 6pm. Donating is easy! Just visit K1053.com/donate and click the Paypal Donate button. No Paypal account required. Allentown:  Billy Joel and Bob Seger Birthday Bash. 7 PM.  A Night Honoring Two Rock Legends in One Unforgettable Celebration! Celebrate Billy Joel’s birthday in grand style at the Michigan Theatre of Jackson, featuring Michigan’s premier Billy Joel and Bob Seger tribute bands. Lookin’ Back kicks off the evening with their acclaimed Bob Seger tribute, joined by a very special surprise guest vocalist in honor of Bob Seger’s birthday just three days earlier. No hints—just shock, awe, and pure rock & roll excitement! Then, the stage transforms as Allentown, Michigan’s first and only dedicated Billy Joel tribute, takes center stage for a 90-minute concert filled with energy, precision, and passion. Experience Billy Joel’s greatest hits and deep-cut favorites, from Allentown to New York State of Mind to Zanzibar, performed live in one of Michigan’s most breathtaking historic venues.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Columbia Central High School’s Annual Hope Run.  This year’s theme is “Back 2 Back”.  This is the school’s 20th anniversary of this annual fundraiser where students, faculty and the community come together to raise money for cancer research, treatment programs and support for those battling cancer.  This year’s fundraising goal is $10,000.
