Bright Walls 2021. Bright Walls is a public art and mural festival founded and run by volunteer members of the Jackson Young Professionals. In just three years, plus a pandemic, the festival has hosted artists from across the globe and brought 40 murals to the downtown district — creating a new destination in our community.  Throughout the festival, Bright Walls showcased the artists’ talents alongside musicians, local artists and many other community organizations.  Bright Walls is made possible by the support of its planning team members, partners, muralists, building owners, volunteers and the community.

• Bright Walls Scavenger Hunt – All Day
  • Back by popular demand, the Bright Walls Scavenger Hunt will kick-off with clues being posted to our Facebook Page that will guide participants to various challenges throughout Jackson.
• Rock the Block – 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • DJ Mike Holiday, local band – The Orbiters, and top 40 cover band – FiftyAmpFuse will take to the stage with live music!
    • 6:30-7:30: The Orbiters
    • 7:30-8:00: DJ Mike Holiday
    • 8:00-11:00: FiftyAmpFuse

Bright Walls Saturday Events:

• Bright Walls Scavenger Hunt – All Day
• Downtown ShowDown – 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • This day is all about highlighting local talent! Ten Jackson artists will take to the street and work to complete a mural the size of a parking spot. The crowd will then be able to vote for their favorite. 
  • Later in the evening, the stage will be filled with musical and magical performances. Daniel Martin will join us from 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM-8:30 PM for magic shows you won’t want to miss!

Grand River Farmers Market.  The Grand River Farmers Market at the corner of Louis Glick and Pearl Streets in Jackson is open Fridays and Saturdays, 9-2.  Lots of great new vendors, and our favorite regulars too!   A great selection of local seasonal produce is available. POW/MIA Recognition Day.  In honor of all that were held or are missing, VVA Chapter 109 in Jackson will hold a vigil from 3:00 pm today until 3:00 pm Saturday. At 6:00 pm will have a ceremony honoring them with an explanation of missing man table. Everyone is welcome.  Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #109, 235 West Franklin Street.

Free Senior Shred Day. 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.  Jackson Co. Dept. on Aging, 1715 Lansing Ave., Jackson.  County Human Service Complex, Parking Lot B.  One way to prevent identify theft is to destroy personal documents, including important and private information you wouldn’t want anyone to have, ever.  On Friday, Sept. 17, RAPID SHRED will be onsite to help seniors shred their documents and they will properly dispose of the material.  While here, Seniors can visit resource tables for information about Senior Services, Common Scams, Preventing Crime & Elder Abuse  Attendees who complete a survey can register to win a $30 gift card.  While here have lunch at the Crouch Senior Center; reserve by calling 517-768-8684 (*ten-box limit per household)  The event is sponsored by funding received from Region 2 Area Agency on Aging.

The 16^th Annual Freedom Festival & Steam Engine Show will be held from September 17^th through the 19th.  10138 Tompkins Rd.  Tompkins Township, Rives Junction, 49277 half a mile North off of M-50, Between Jackson and Eaton Rapids.  The Kick- off will be a Friday night Sept. 17th street dance at the Town Hall, 9999 Tompkins Rd. at 7 pm, with music by Karen Kidder-Barrett and the band “Alibi“.  Bring your lawn chairs and your dancing shoes.  Saturday, Sept. ^18th, 9 am to 5 pm.  At 9:30 am there will be a flag-raising ceremony to officially open the Festival.  Attractions will include; Flea Market, Antique Steam Engines, Gas hit & Miss Engines, Saw Mill, Shingle Mill, Tractor Pulls, Kid’s Tractor Pulls, Indian Camps and a Car Show(Sat. only)from 10 am to 2 pm.  Stop and take a tour of our 1800”s Frontier Log Cabin, Museum tours & a 1900’s Schoolhouse. Also don’t forget to check out our Silent Auction and Bake Sale in the Red Barn.  New this year is a bookmobile from Jackson District Library(Sat. Only.)   Country Breakfast at the Town Hall Saturday Morning 7 AM to 10 AM, for a Donation, Sponsored by Pope Church.  Food Wagons throughout the event.  At dusk is a Sparks Show and so much more to see and do throughout the 2-day event.  Sunday, Sept. 19th. 9 am to 3 pm.  There will be an outdoor Church Service at 9:30 am.  Indian camps.  Flea Market, the Society will offer logo t-shirts, history and cook books.  Silent auction till 12:00pm(noon) Bake sale.  FREE Admission & Parking.   Donations are appreciated, NO pets, or alcohol allowed on property.   Not responsible for accidents.

Kingdom Health Conference.  First Annual Kingdom Health Conference to be held in Jackson.  Most topics at health and wellness conferences cover what to do to drop fat, how to get ripped  or how to treat symptoms. The Kingdom Health Conference will be structured differently.  Attendees will be challenged to ask God how they can live in health, and guided through a  process to begin getting answers.  Beginning September 16th, The Kingdom Health Conference will be a hybrid world wide event.  Thanks to our generous sponsors the conference will stream live at no cost; The schedule for  this life changing conference is:

● Saturday, September 18 9am – 4 pm will be held in person at JaxNaz, 3905 Clinton Road in Jackson Michigan.
The Virtual conference highlights include guest speakers: Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, award-winning Christian author and popular media guest; Melody LaGrone, Holistic Health Practitioner and co-owner of Yah Organics, and Theresa Horne, Kingdom Health Coach, certified fitness professional and owner of Sisterhood of Strong.  The in-person conference on Saturday will consist of activities to bring clarity, information, balance, and breakthrough. Stacey Shaw-Virgo, domestic violence advocate and speaker will be Saturday’s special guest speaker and will share her personal story of trauma to healing and health. Participants will make their own personal health moves. The registration cost of $69 for Saturday includes lunch and materials required for the day. The first 25 in person attendees to register will receive a VIP swag bag.  Conference organizers are excited to be bringing the annual landmark event to the Jackson community.
