Grass Lake Traffic Jam ‘In 5K Run, Walk & Family 1 Mile Fun Run. Join us as we kick off the Traffic Jam’in Festival with a flat, scenic 5k run and 5k walk around the lake and nearby neighborhood. Finish strong in front of our community Events Park Pavilion while listening to live music! Water station at the 1/2 way mark and refreshments and award ceremony following the 5K. Music on the course! Start time for the 5k Run and 5k Walk is 7:30 pm, Mile Start time is 7 pm. Be sure to pre-register for the race! There is no on site race day registration. Jackson College Astronomical Observatory Public Viewing. 9 PM to 11 PM. Jackson College’s new Astronomical Observatory will hold public viewing nights on Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-11 p.m. (weather permitting) now through the month of July. Viewing nights provide the public with an opportunity to look through the new high-tech telescope to see the planets, the moon and stars. Astronomical Observatory Coordinator Talia Burns will be available to explain what guests may be looking at and to answer any related questions. Guests are also welcome to bring their own telescopes; the site has an outdoor platform area with several piers for amateur astronomers. Those interested are advised to check the weather beforehand. The telescope is ADA compliant and accessible to people in wheelchairs. When entering Central Campus from Emmons Road, take the service drive to the left; the observatory is just beyond the softball and baseball fields.
Jets Air Station Opening Week. You are invited to experience the new Jets Air Station at Jackson College, now open! After months of anticipation, the finishing touches have been made, and the Jets Air Station is ready to welcome guests! The hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays & Sundays (hours may change based on usage). This brand-new inflatable air dome provides more space for college athletics, student and community workouts, and public events. Inside, the Air Station features a rubberized floor with four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, six pickleball courts, and two tennis courts. A marked walking track surrounds the perimeter of the athletic courts. The starting setup includes one tennis court, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and a pickleball court, which may change based on usage. To meet visitors’ needs, there are restrooms, a greeters’ station, bag/shoe storage, a lounge/seating area and vending machines. Guests may check out tennis rackets and balls, volleyballs, pickleball paddles and balls and basketballs. All users must sign in on arrival, every time. Usage of the Jet Air Station will be free over the summer; memberships will be offered for the fall semester, with information to come.

People for the Parks & Trails Mini Golf Outing. 12 PM to 8 PM. You’re heard of a golf outing, but what about a mini-golf outing? Deaf Ears & Silent Voices. 11 AM. The Universalist Unitarian Church of East Liberty announces this Sunday’s service, “Deaf Ears and Silent Voices.” Services are at 11am at the church, located at 2231 Jefferson Road in Liberty Township near Clarklake, MI (1/2 mile West of US 127). At this service, member Darrin Palmer will be providing an in-depth look at Deaf culture, some interesting signs in ASL, and some of his own experiences navigating the world as a Deaf man. Service will be in spoken English with no ASL interpreter, but multiple copies of the sermon script, preferred front-pew seating, and listening aid devices will be available. Nursery care is available for children age 5 and under, and visitors are welcome to join members and friends for social time and snacks after the service.
