Jackson Juneteenth Event: “1619 – Welcome To America”. This play is written and directed by Lisa Williams, with music directed by Big Code Blu. “1619 – Welcome to America” travels through decades of time with song and dance. Watch as time passes with families whose ancestors were once enslaved that deal with the same issues over and over again. Michigan Theatre. Doors at 6 pm. The play starts at 7 pm. The community is welcome to attend and there is no admission charge.

Kids Zone w/ game trailer, foam party, games, petting zoo and more. Resource Fair, Job Fair & Kids Zone kicks off at 2 p.m. Check out exhibitors around True Community City Square, W. Michigan Avenue & S. Jackson Street, to learn more about resources available. Food and sales vendors will also be on hand. Enjoy the smooth sounds of Motown, R & B, Gospel and more when entertainment kicks off later that afternoon. Performers include D.J. Jerry Smith, Brandon Marceal, Shantelle & Terrance Hawkins, Big L & Code Blu, and the featured group, The Crasherz. Al Glick Youth Football Camp The 3rd annual Al Glick Youth Football Camp on June 18th at Withington Stadium at Jackson High School, 544 Wildwood Avenue, in Jackson. Camp will take place from 12 Noon to 4:00 PM, with check-in at 11:00 AM. The cost is 15 dollars per camper and is open to all Jackson County kids entering 4th to 9th grade in the Fall of 2022. All campers will receive a t-shirt and draw-string bag, light breakfast, lunch, special guest speakers, and non-contact instruction by current high school coaches and former college and pro players. People for the Parks & Trails Volunteer Event. Our first volunteer opportunity of the summer season is happening this weekend! Join us as we clean up and mulch Rotary Park. This is a small neighborhood park on Jackson’s east side. For this volunteer event, volunteers will be spreading mulch at the park’s playground, along with removing weeds and brush. The park is located at 1413 Deyo Street. We’ll see you there!

On Two Wheels Sunday Morning Breakfast Ride. 9 AM. This is an OTW-sanctioned road ride. This is a “B” ride, a 14mph-18mph, drop and join the ride with a destination. This ride will take place on Jackson County roads, helmets are REQUIRED for all riders. Some road riding, and group ride skills will be necessary for this ride. Group will be leaving from Paragon Schools parking lot (corner of McCain & Robinson) at 9 am. Starting dates will be a 25-30 mile ride, and as the summer progresses, moving closer to 60-70 miles. Music on the Patio. 7 PM. Jackson College welcomes the community to a Summer Concert Series on the Potter Center’s “back patio” this summer! For years, the College presented the Front Porch Concert Series. Now, with renovations and improvements to the Potter Center, the series continues on the back patio! Today’s concert: Trombonefest — “Baroque to Beatles, Queen and Blue Suede,” all with 30-plus trombones and a rockin’ rhythm section! These free concerts will begin at 7 p.m. Some seating is available but bringing a lawn chair or blanket is encouraged. Concerts will move indoors in case of rain.
