The Grand River Farmers Market is open today from 9 am until 2 pm at the corner of Louis Glick & Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson.  The market features Michigan-grown produce; including fresh vegetables, fruits, organic goods, vegan cookies, muffins, granola, honey, jams, breads, pastas, jewelry, dog treats, salsas, fruit pies, sweet corn, tomatoes, hanging flower baskets, blueberries, maple syrup, chard, broccoli, peas, mums, and much more!

The Jackson YMCA presents Outdoor Summer Fun, free events for members and the community.  Yoga at the Farmer’s Market.  9 AM to 10 AM.  Meet at Grand River Farmer’s Market.

VA Resource and Enrollment Fair.  All veterans are welcome and encouraged to bring their DD214 to apply for benefits on site.  Representatives from A Health Care Benefits, Vet Center Readjustment Counseling Services Information, Veterans Benefits Administration and National Cemetery Administration.  10 AM to 2 PM, 1715 Lansing Avenue, 2nd Floor.

The Nixon Water Park is open with sessions today:   11 AM to 2 PM, 2:15 PM to 5:15 PM and 5:30 PM to 7 PM.  $4 per person.  Evening session is $2.  Ten swim passes are available for $32 (2 free sessions).  There is a picnic area and light concessions are available for purchase.  Patrons are allowed to bring in small coolers (no glass containers).  Nixon Water Park, 400 East North Street.

Kellen’s Crusade Lemonade Stand.  Join us for fresh-squeezed lemonade in the park and all money goes to Kellen’s Krusade. Named in honor of Kellen, a local 11-year old fighting cancer for the last seven years, this charity is dedicated to finding a cure for relapsed neuroblastoma by raising awareness and funding cutting edge research.  10 AM to 1 PM, Horace Blackman Park, Downtown Jackson.

American 1 Vandercook Car Sale.  This year, We are hosting our annual Vandercook Car Sale at our local American 1 branch.  All the vehicles at this sale are used vehicles from Monster Motors and Avenue Auto.  American 1 is on site with financing and offering special drawings and incentives.  American 1 Credit Union, 1238 East McDevitt, Jackson.

Jammin’ in Jackson and Family Film Night at CP Federal City Square in Horace Blackman Park, Downtown Jackson.  Jammin’ in Jackson is featuring the music of ACT lll from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The Disney classic movie “The Sword and The Stone” will begin at dark ( 9:30/9:45 P.M.) Friday Night Live Music at The Jackson Coffee Company.  Performing from 7 PM to 10 PM is Emilee Martin.  Alternative, Blues, Folk, Rock, Acoustic Singer-Songwriter.  Jackson Coffee Company, corner of Cortland and Mechanic Streets, Downtown Jackson.  Free.

Arts in the Park.  Free concerts all summer at Swain Memorial Park, Brooklyn.  Tonight, Rhythm Ramblers.  Bring a blanket or lawn chair!  Presented by Irish Hills Community Legacy and community sponsors.  Show begins at 7 PM.

Jackson Art Zone Open House, featuring the works of several Jackson area artists.  4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Jackson Art Zone, 414 North Jackson, Jackson.  Free event and open to all.

Late Night Friday and Live Tunes at Sandhill.  Late Night Friday evenings are back at the Sandhill Crane Vineyards & we will be open until 10pm.  Come sit on the deck, enjoy a glass of wine, wine taste & grab some snacks!  Two-Faced Wilson will play 6:30-9:30 PM on the deck-weather permitting.

Live Music at The Poison Frog Brewery.  In addition to handcrafted beers, meads, and spirits, The Poison Frog Brewery offers food and hosts local musicians for live entertainment. On Friday and Saturday nights you’ll want to check out the local talent and amazing beer for a good time!  No cover charge! The 2018 Jackson County Master Gardeners Garden Tour.  Enjoy touring 8 beautiful Grass Lake area gardens accompanied by live music at your own pace.  Be sure to stop by the Grass Lake Depot to shop at the Garden Market and sign up for a gift basket giveaway.  Bring garden tools for free tool sharpening.  Discounts at local Grass Lake merchants for ticket holders.  Tickets are $10.  10 AM to 5 PM.  Buy tickets at the Grass Lake Depot on day of event.

Religious Music Concert.  11 AM to 12 N.  Brookside UMC is sponsoring this Religious Music Concert with Organ solos, organ and piano duets, and vocal ensemble.  Hear your favorite hymns, originals, and even Bach.  A wide variety of spiritually inspired music.  Refreshments to follow.   Donations are appreciated as proceeds will go to help the Brookside audio/visual department.  Please call 517-782-5167 for more information.  4000 Francis Street, Jackson.

Cascades Rotary Bandshell Summer Concert Series.  The All Directions Band has been a fixture in the southeastern Michigan music community for a number of years. The band has played numerous clubs, music festivals and concerts and has backed up a wide spectrum of talent including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees “Ben E. King and The Drifters”, “The Diamonds” and jazz legend Grady Tate.  All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m.  Free to the public.  Presented by The Myers Family Little Caesars of Jackson and Jackson County Parks.

The Miss Jackson Crossroads and Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant will take place on Saturday, June 30th, 6PM at the Potter Center on the campus of Jackson College. You are invited to join current titleholders, Alexus Warchock, Peyton Lowder, and special guest Emily Sioma the newly crowned Miss Michigan 2018 as 15 Jackson County women compete for the crown and opportunity to serve our community. A great evening of family friendly entertainment and excitement is guaranteed.  Tickets are $20 at the door.

July 1

Church in the Park, Cascades Falls Park.  Make shorts and sandals your new “Sunday Best”.  Join in worship at Cascades Falls Park, north parking lot.  Worship in your car, tuning your radio to 1700, or join us on the lawn.  Kids and pets welcome.  Sponsored by Jackson’s First Presbyterian Church.  8:30 AM every Sunday thru August 19th.  Feel free to bring a lawn chair.

The 4th of July Celebrations begin today in Hanover and Horton.  Today’s events include a fishing contest beginning at 8 am at Snyder Park and a Pig Roast, Kids Games and a Baked Goods Auction. at the Horton Masonic Lodge.  More activities throughout the day as the big 4th of July week begins in Hanover-Horton.  More details here.

Walker Tavern Farmers Market.  50 local vendors selling baked goods, crafts and fresh produce on the grounds of the beautify Walker Tavern Historic  Site. Please note, a Recreation Passport is required.
