Downtown Jackson Cruise In.  Join us for our family oriented event featuring classic cars on display throughout the Downtown Streets of Jackson. The event takes place from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Michigan Ave. There will be a variety of vendors at this event including food trucks. Bring your family and friends to Downtown Jackson to enjoy summer evenings checking out classic cruisers!    Live music by Roxy Roca.

Art on the Ave.  5 PM to 8 PM.  Join us as we celebrate the creative talents of our artists! As you stroll down Michigan Ave during the monthly Cruise-ins take an artistic journey at The Orange Peacock Gallery. Encounter live artistic performances and indulge your senses as you explore the gallery with a complimentary beverage.  May 24 – Michelle Detering (watercolors & photography)

Summer Kickoff Fireworks Show.  Presented by The Myers Family Little Caesars of Jackson and Jackson County Parks.  Stage show featuring The Swift Brothers at 6:30 PM, gates open at 6 PM.  Admission $7 per person, $5 for children age 4 to 12.  Fireworks at Dusk.  Sparks Foundation County Park (The Cascades).

Free Movie Night.  6 PM, First Baptist Church, Downtown Jackson.   Join us for May movie night when we watch “The Greatest Showman.”  Hugh Jackman leads an all-star cast in this bold and original musical filled with infectious showstopping performances that will bring you to your feet time and time again. Inspired by the story of P.T. Barnum (Jackman), the film follows the visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle. This inspirational film also stars Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.  This is a free event and all are welcome.

52nd Annual EAA Pancake Breakfast.  7 AM to 12 PM.  Jackson County Airport.  52nd annual pancake breakfast and fly-in located at the Jackson Reynolds Field airport.  All you can eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, with juice, coffee.  Adults $6, kids 6-12 $3, 5 and under free.

Blessing of the Animals.  Jackson’s First Congregational Church is welcoming pet owners and their furry friends to a special ceremony. First Congregational is holding its annual “Blessing of the Animals” on Sunday, May 26 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held in a very pet-friendly location, the CP Federal City Square in Blackman Park, which is located next to the church in Downtown Jackson. Pets and owners from all walks of life are welcome to attend the event. We ask that pets be on a leash or secured.   Blackman Park is located next to the church at 120 N. Jackson Street. If God blesses us with rain, we will be holding the ceremony inside the church. 

Kids Planetarium Day.  Sundays at 1:30 p.m.  Located in the Hurst Planetarium at Ella Sharp Museum.  Experience the ancient legends of the night sky!  Perseus & Andromeda is a fun-filled retelling of the legendary Princess Andromeda and Perseus, as they try to escape the great sea monster set upon Andromeda by her mother, Cassiopeia.  Recommended for Ages 5-13.  Tickets: $6 adults, $4 for children and Ella Sharp Museum members. Age 5 and under is FREE. Tickets available at the door.

Memorial Day Mass.  A special Memorial Day Mass will be celebrated at 9am on Monday, May 27th at St. John Catholic Cemetery, located at 403 E. South Street in Jackson. Bring lawn chairs for seating as Mass will be held outside at the cemetery’s altar. In the event of inclement weather, Mass will be moved to St. John the Evangelist Church, located at 711 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Jackson. Military funeral honors by local veterans will open the service, followed by Mass to honor those who died serving our country and all the faithful departed. This year marks the 62nd year that Memorial Day Mass has been celebrated at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Refreshments and fellowship will follow Mass at the cemetery’s office.

Jackson Memorial Day Procession.  Jackson’s Memorial Day parade begins at 10 a.m. Monday from the Michigan Avenue and Jackson Street intersection downtown. The procession proceeds down Greenwood Avenue to Mount Evergreen Cemetery, a ceremony honoring soldiers follows.

Grass Lake Procession. 10 AM. Monday,  Starting from downtown and ending at Oakwood/East Cemetery.

Concord Parade.  10 AM.  Main Street to Maple Grove Cemetery, a memorial service follows the parade.

Clark Lake Parade.  The parade assembly will begin at 7:30 AM on Hyde Road near the “old school.” The parade at 8:30 AM.

Brooklyn Parade.  10 AM.  Beginning at Marshall Street to the Town Square.

Albion Parade.  10 AM.  Beginning at the corner of Erie and Superior Streets, ending at  Riverside Cemetery.
