The Voice Viewing Party. 7 PM. K105.3 is partnering with the Michigan Theatre of Jackson to host a free viewing party for Brayden Lape’s final performance on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ this Monday night. The viewing party will take place Monday, December 12 at the Michigan Theatre of Jackson, 124 N. Mechanic St. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., K105.3 will play Brayden Lape trivia with the audience and give away prizes beginning at 7:30 p.m., and the episode will begin airing at 8:00 p.m. The bar and concessions at the theatre will be open. Admission is free, but donations to the theatre are welcome. K105.3 will also be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the Jackson Community Food Pantry as well as new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.
Free Holiday Caroling Concert. 7 PM. Enjoy the sounds of the season with Jackson College’s Vocal Point concert choir! Vocal Point will present a free Holiday Caroling Concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12 in the Jets Hangar on Central Campus. This will be “a brief sprinkle of holiday music,” said Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Richard Hintze. The program will include: “Norwegian Alleluia,” by Kim Andre Arnesen, “Sing We Now of Christmas,” arr. Mark Hayes, “Silent,” arr. Morgan Ames. Three Vocal Jazz arrangements: “Sing for Hanukkah, “Angels We Have Heard On High”, and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. College and community members are welcome to attend.
Kwanzaa Celebration. 12 PM to 1 PM. Bert Walker Hall, Rooms 144 & 145, Jackson College Central Campus. Learn more about the origin, tradition, and Seven Principles of Kwanzaa at a free presentation for all students, staff and community. Diane Washington, founder and executive director of Young People of Purpose Explorers, will share about this weeklong celebration of African-American culture and heritage.
Yoga at the Eastern Branch. Join us at the Jackson District Library Eastern Branch to relax, unwind, and take care of your body with the slow and gentle flow of yoga! Bring your own mat. If you do not have one, a limited amount may be available. This program takes place on the second Monday of the month at 3 PM.
