Jackson College Winter Film Series:  The Big Lebowski.  Jeff `The Dude’ Leboswki is mistaken for Jeffrey Lebowski, who is The Big Lebowski. Which explains why he’s roughed up and has his precious rug peed on. In search of recompense, The Dude tracks down his namesake, who offers him a job. His wife has been kidnapped and he needs a reliable bagman. Aided and hindered by his pals Walter Sobchak, a Vietnam vet, and Donny, master of stupidity.  For over two decades Jackson College has offered their prestigious film class at The Michigan Theatre of Jackson. The year 2020 is no exception. Instructor, Dave DeBaker offers his insights into some monumental films every week.  Doors open at 6:30 pm. The auditorium opens at 7:00 pm. Film begins at 7:15 pm., Runtime: 1 hour 59 minutes.  Tickets are available at the door for $5.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Healthy Living Series.  The series of classes will provide the education and tools you need to help maintain healthy goals.  Intro to the program, tracking food and exercise, eating well, becoming more active, shopping and cooking, finding time for fitness, dining out sensibly, taking charge of your thoughts/stress management, food triggers and mindful eating  Registration is required for this series. You can register online or at 734-593-5280.  This series is presented by St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea and is held at the Jackson YMCA, Downtown Jackson.  Program runs from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM.  Prizes will be awarded at each class.

Red Cross Blood Drive.  12 p.m. – 5:45 p.m., Christ Lutheran Church, 4250 Page Avenue, Michigan Center.  Roll up your sleeves and give blood to serve our community! Donating blood is fast, easy, and rewarding. Reserve a donation time at the Red Cross website.

Happy Hour at Veritas.  2 PM to 6 PM.  Drink specials include $3 for all draft and bottled beer, $2 off glasses of wine and a selection of cocktails at $5.  Appetizer specials include Buck a Shuck Oysters and Sushi rolls for $5.  New Happy Hour, Monday thru Friday, 2 PM to 6 PM.  Veritas, 151 West Michigan Avenue, Downtown Jackson.

Free Movie Screening:  Harriet.  You are invited to a free screening of the AARP Movies for Grownups Award-winning film HARRIET, starring Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Janelle Monáe.  Based on the thrilling and inspirational life of an iconic American freedom fighter, HARRIET tells the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history.  Rated PG-13 for thematic content throughout, violent material and language including racial epithets.  Tickets are free but reservation is required.
