The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is the oldest, largest and strongest civil rights organization in the United States. Join us on this special occasion, as we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Minister Jacqueline Dillard will be the guest speaker from Walk In Truth Ministries. 10 AM, Second Missionary Baptist Church, 304 East Prospect Street, Jackson. Martin Luther King, Jr. and The Role of Social Justice. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jackson College’s Central Campus will be celebrated with a forum, “Martin Luther King Jr. & the Role of Social Justice,” at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21 in Bert Walker Hall, Rooms 144-145. The community, students and employees are invited to learn more about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his role in social justice issues during his lifetime, and the legacy he leaves for us today. Social justice refers to a concept in which equity or justice is achieved in every aspect of society rather than in only some aspects or for some people. Panelists leading the discussion will include: Chas Lietaert, Jackson College Director of Student Life; Cornell Sample, Jackson College student; John Willis, City of Jackson Neighbor Outreach Coordinator; Kevin Brown, Spring Arbor University Chief Diversity Officer; Chantez Knowles, Consumers Energy attorney; Woodrow Wilson, retired Jackson College professor who taught African-American history. There will be time for questions from the audience. Jackson College and its Office of Multicultural Affairs present this free, informative event. 2 PM Jackson College Central Campus.
