Events of Monday, July 16, 2023

US Women’s National Balloon Championship.  The 2023 US Women‘s National Championship will take place July 16-21 in Jackson, Michigan. This year‘s event will precede the 40th anniversary of Jackson‘s Hot Air Jubilee weekend. The Championship is sanctioned by the Balloon Federation of America (BFA) and its Hot Air Competition Division (HACD).  It’s a Celebration!  The 40th Anniversary of Jackson’s Hot Air Jubilee – this year a full week of ballooning as Jackson hosts the Women’s National Balloon Championship.   The Women’s competition flights are scheduled between 6:30 and 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, with some evening flights  Monday and Tuesday between 7:30-9 p.m (llaunch locations determined by pilots).    Hot Air Balloons will fill the skies during the weekend at Ella Sharp Park with launches scheduled for Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning, weather permitting, with fantastic ‘night glows’ in the evenings. Other activities include helicopter rides, a car show, Jeep night, and Kids’ Kingdom, free bounce house and inflatable obstacle course, and there will be Food Trucks and a Beer Tent.  Visit Hot Air Jubilee for more information!

Grateful Monday at Ironbark.  6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.  THIS MONTH, 50 YEARS AGO!!! This month’s installment of Grateful Monday will be from the historic Watkins Glen festival that occurred on July 28th, 1973 that featured The Band, Allman Brothers Band and Grateful Dead.  Ironbark Brewing Company, 2610 Kibby Road, Jackson.

Nixon Water Park.  The City of Jackson Nixon Water Park season is now underway.  Hours are Monday thru Saturday 11 AM to 3 PM, session price $5.  3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, session price $4.  Senior Swim:  Tuesday and Friday, 9 AM to 10:30 AM, session price $2.  Closed Sundays.  400 E. North Street at Cooper Street, Jackson.

Auditions at the Croswell Opera House.  6 PM to 8 PM.  Auditions for Jekyll & Hyde and The Little Mermaid will take place in Adrian: Monday, July 17 from 6-8 p.m.and  Saturday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please prepare a short vocal selection (approximately one minute long) and bring sheet music for the accompanist.
