JDL Summer Discover Sign-Up. Track your reading, win prizes, and discover something new in an all-ages reading challenge. Simply read anything (yes, anything, from daunting novels to breezy comics) between June 1 and July 31, log your time online, and enter to win a wide variety of prizes including gift cards to local favorites like Cascades Ice Cream, Jackson 10 Movie Theater, Meckley’s Flavor Fruit Farm, Axe Play, and the Jackson YMCA, among other prizes. Every four hours read gets you an entry into a prize drawing of your choice. Parents and guardians of those who can’t read earn a free book for signing up and another for completing the program. A total of two hours of reading to your toddler or loved one enters them into a prize drawing. 4th Annual Al Glick Youth Football Camp Sign-Up. The 4th Annual Al Glick Youth Football Camp is Saturday, June 17th at Dungy Field at Withington Stadium at Jackson High School. Open to Jackson County Kids entering 4th through 9th grade this Fall, this one-day camp will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with check-in at 9. Kids get breakfast and lunch, non-contact instruction by current high school coaches, former Collegiate & Professional players, and a drawstring gift bag with a camp t-shirt. Jackson College Boys Baseball Camp Sign-Up. Boys Baseball Camp will play ball again this summer at Jackson College! Boys ages 6-14 can practice the game at a two-day camp, June 19-20 from 9 a.m. to noon., on the baseball fields on Central Campus (2111 Emmons Road, Jackson, MI 49201). Baseball camp will teach fundamental skills in the sport – catching, batting, pitching, fielding, rules of the game and more. Boys can develop their overall fitness while having fun with others. Cost is $85 for the camp. Campers will receive a T-shirt and should bring a glove, hat, water bottle and bat, if possible.
