
Call for Adult Literacy Tutors Informational Meetings. The Jackson District Library is looking for adults to tutor other adults in the community in developing literacy skills. This is a volunteer position with a 6 month – 1 year commitment of at least 1 hour a week. There are 30 spots available for tutors. Tutors will receive a 2 week training beginning November 4 as well as all supplies needed. JDL will be here to support you every step of the way! Anyone interested in becoming a tutor is encouraged to register for an informational meeting held at the Carnegie Library October 21, 4-5 PM. Red Cross Blood Drive. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, the American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give blood or platelets to provide hope and healing to patients fighting cancer. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women, and more than 268,000 women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Here is today’s opportunity you have to donate blood to breast cancer patients: 12 p.m. – 5:45 p.m., St. Joseph Social Center, 717 N. Waterloo Street, Jackson.
