Grand River Farmers Market.  9 AM to 2 PM.  A community-driven market prioritizing fresh local produce and Michigan-only homemade & artisan goods.  Open Fridays and Saturdays, 9am-2pm throughout the summer into early fall. The Grand River Farmers Market is located in the parking lot of Grand River Brewery at the intersection of Louis Glick Highway and Mechanic Street.  Rotating food trucks and music on select days. The Emerging Technology in Arts (ETA) Festival presented by Jackson Young Professionals.  3 PM to 11 PM. A new exciting festival is coming to Jackson!   Powered by the organization that brought you Bright Walls  (@JxnYP)  The Emerging Technology in Arts (ETA) Festival will be free to attend and features a variety of technology-themed art installations and interactive experiences, live music and entertainment on multiple stages.  The full entertainment, art installation and educational activity program has been added to the website and event page. Food Truck Fundraiser.  Stop by the Jackson District Library Spring Arbor Branch on October 14 from 11 AM to 2:30 PM to enjoy food and entertainment and support the library at the same time! In the event of rain, the activities will be moved inside the community room. Food Trucks:  Baby Bear Burger, Big Cheezy Grill, Chilango’s, Dave’s Dogs, Rollin’ Hoagies, and On the Roll. Washington’s Gourmet Cheesecakes will also be available for purchase. Entertainment: Steve and Brian Tucker (11 AM & 1:45 PM), Great Lakes Cloggers (12 PM), Jacktown Ukes (1 PM) Cornhole Tournament (Starts at 11:30 AM. Call 517-750-2030 to register.) Raffles and more! This event is presented by the Friends of the Jackson District Library. All proceeds help support library programming.

City Cleanup Day.  7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Jackson residents are invited to bring yard waste and general household trash to the DPW Operations Center.  The event is free and only open to City of Jackson residents.  The DPW Operations Center is located at 521 Water Street.  Residents should stay in their vehicles and drive through the drop off zones, entering Water Street using Morrell Street, and exiting using Franklin Street. Please assist with the removal of items from your vehicle if you are able.  Yard waste, such as grass clippings and brush are accepted, along with household trash like boxes and furniture. The following is a list of items that will not be accepted: Batteries, Tires, Kitchen garbage, Paint, Liquid waste, Appliances that contain or have contained Freon, Hazardous waste, Electronics, Motor Oil.

Grass Lake Area Historical Society 2023 Cemetery Walk.  4 PM.  Did you know that a U.S. President’s grandfather is buried in Grass Lake’s Maple Grove Cemetery? Also buried there is a cousin of a current European Prime Minister? These two gravesites are among the dozen or so that will be highlighted in the upcoming tour sponsored by the Grass Lake Area Historical Society. Experience one of the best ways to learn about Grass Lake’s past. Join us and hear about the ancestors of Grass Lake with a guided tour. Parking is available at the Coe House Museum. Brooklyn Pumpkin Quest.  11 AM to 2 PM.  Pumpkin Quest is a free festival for the entire family!  We give away 500 pumpkins for a donation to our local food pantry and also offer hay rides, make and take scarecrows, games, crafts, face painting, balloon animals, bouncy house and many more fun things throughout the afternoon event!  Have the kiddos wear their Halloween costumes so they can be in the costume parade and a chance to win a prize for the best costume.  Downtown Brooklyn.

Music on Tap presents Live Blues at the JSO. 8 PM.  Buffalo Nichols is breathing new life into the genre of blues. Since his earliest infatuations with guitar, he asked himself the same question: How can I bring the blues of the past into the future? After cutting his teeth between a Baptist church and bars in Milwaukee, it was a globetrotting trip that began to reveal the answer. “Part of my intent, making myself more comfortable with this release, is putting more Black stories into the genres of folk and blues,” guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist Carl “Buffalo” Nichols explains. FrankenFest.  11 AM to 6 PM.  Abnormal art and monstrous creations brought to life… The Bride of FrankenFest features mad, magical and mystical artwork from the area’s most intriguing artists. Experience a slice of FrankenFest as this new indoor event makes its debut here in artist-centric Jackson.  The Carriage Factory, Art 634, Jackson.  FREE indoor event!  All ages welcome. Note that some artwork may not be suitable for the youngest eyes. Jackson College High School Choral Invitational. 4 PM.  Hear the music of Jackson County’s finest young voices at the third annual High School Choral Invitational, set for Sunday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. in Potter Center. High school choir members from Napoleon High will perform at this special event, as well as Jackson College’s own Vocal Point ensemble. Bringing young choirs together is the goal of the Invitational. “This promises to be an evening where we showcase up-and-coming choirs in our area,” said Richard Hintze, music instructor. This High School Choral Invitational is free and all are welcome!
