Jackson College Spooktacular. 5:30 PM to 7 PM.   Get those costumes ready! Bring the kids out to Jackson College’s Halloween Spooktacular on Friday, Oct. 24, from 5:30–7 p.m. Enjoy trick-or-treating, candy galore, and spooky fun that is more sweet than scary. Enjoy the candy and creativity of the community college campus decked out for Halloween! Costumes are encouraged but not required; children 10 and under welcome with parents or guardian. Feel free to bring a pumpkin or bag to collect goodies; shopping bags will also be available. Please start trick-or-treating in Bert Walker Hall. Handicapped accessible parking is available on the south or north side of Potter Center (near the Jets Store). Strollers and wagons are permitted; the route is completely handicap accessible with all locations being on the first floor of each building. The route will take guests in and out of buildings so please dress for the weather. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the campus to direct visitors and distribute treats. In addition to candy, there will be non-sweet treats and age-appropriate items. This is a free event for the community.

Concert Aglow:  Best of the 80s. 7 PM.  Relive the vibrant spirit of the 80s as a string quartet brings iconic hits to life in an intimate, candlelit setting. Experience the era’s energy and nostalgia, from electric anthems to heartfelt melodies. Hosted at the Jackson County Tower Ballroom in partnership with the Jackson County Fair, this evening promises a unique fusion of retro flair and timeless elegance. Grand River Farmers Market. 9 AM to 2 PM.  Shop local farmers, ranchers, growers & producers in beautiful Downtown Jackson! A community driven marketplace, bringing the best fresh, locally produced ag products right from the farmers, to you! We’ve got tons of seasonal fresh fruits and veggies, fresh flowers, eggs, grassfed and grassfinished beef, pasture raised pork and chicken, sourdough and other artisan breads, sweets & treats, pretzels, sauces, honey, syrup, gourmet mushrooms, micro greens, pasta, coffee, spices, cheese, frozen foods, hot foods, grab & go foods, salsa, cider, soups/mixes and pantry goods, green plants, body & health products, even pet treats and a few artisans for a little retail therapy!  Live music every day, and food trucks on select days, including Cousins Maine Lobster! Dahlem Goblin Walks.  Two magical nights! October 24, Friday guided tours from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, AND October 25, Saturday guided tours from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Sign up for a guided tour! Pre-Registration is required to attend the annual Goblin Walks event, a not-so-scary Halloween. Every 15 minutes a group of twenty five people are guided down the pumpkin-lit trail to enjoy an evening autumn color tour, a short 1/2 mile trail walk meeting larger than life critters performing entertaining educational skits. The program is about one hour in length. Photo opportunities, refreshments (cider & donuts!), and visit the gift shop. Feel free to dress in costume and be ready for the weather! The event operates rain or shine. It’s great fun for the whole family!! This event does not handout candy. Fee per person: $9/member, $12/non-member (free for infants).  REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Haunted Tours:  The Sparks Edition.  This October, the Jackson Downtown Development Authority invites you to explore one of Jackson’s most intriguing landmarks—the Commercial Exchange Building, now known as The Sparks. Together with the Central Michigan Paranormal Investigators (CMPI), we’re hosting a haunted fundraiser that blends history, architecture, and the unexplained into one unforgettable night.  A decade ago, CMPI investigated this very building and encountered chilling activity: a heavy door that opened on its own, echoes of machinery and voices from long-gone workers, and contact—through their devices—with the spirit of a 17-year-old once trapped inside. This October, they return with cutting-edge equipment like K2 meters, REM pods, and laser grids for a live paranormal investigation that puts you in the middle of the action. Nite Lites Halloween Drive-Thru. The New Nite Lites Halloween light show is a drive-thru attraction roughly 2 miles for all ages to experience with no scary actors from the comfort of your own car. Train rides will be available. Halloween Drive through Light show is open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights through Oct. 31, 2025, located At Michigan International Speedway, 12626 US 12, Brooklyn, MI 49230. Enter at Gate 8 Only.  Kid Friendly and No Scary Actors!  Tickets and event page here.

ORS Running Series:  Corre con Los Muertos.   Nuestra Comunidad is excited for the second annual Corre con Los Muertos – Run with the Dead on Saturday, October 25th at Cascades Park in Jackson. Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de Los Muertos with Nuestra Comunidad (Our Community). All race proceeds will go to supporting scholarships and resources for Hispanic students in the Jackson community. Early Packet pickup Friday 10/24 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 PM at Lean Rocket Lab in downtown Jackson, 133 W Michigan Ave. Participants should use the side back door next to Max’s House of Pancakes.  Race Day Packet pickup: Morning of the race starting at 7:00 am at the race location, Cascades Park.  Parking: Available at Cascades Amphitheater. Shop with a Cop Fundraiser.    The fundraising begins this Saturday, October 25th at the Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill.  Owner Blair Huff hosts the event.  Columbia Police Chief Jay Niles, John Lefere, and organizer John Karkheck gather to receive contributions from noon to 3 pm. At Christmas time, local donors, the Columbia Charter Township Police and Fire Departments, and Santa’s helpers at the Sportsmen’s Club take local children Christmas shopping and help kids experience the best Christmas ever.  Donations can also be dropped off at the Township Office. Astronomical Observatory Viewing Night.  9 PM to 11 PM.  Students, employees, and community members are invited to enjoy an evening of stargazing through our campus telescope! Please visit the Astronomical Observatory web page before attending to confirm the event is still taking place, as it may be canceled due to weather conditions.  Jackson College Central Campus.

Jackson YMCA Free Family Fun Day.  12 PM to 2:30 PM.  Bag of books, floating pumpkin patch, golf simulator, inflatable, gym games, swimming, rock wall, and cider & donuts.  Free books to the first 700 kids ages birth to 8th grade from the JCISD.  Pumpkin Patch Swim 12:30 -1:30 PM. Swimsuits required, parents must be in the water with children under age 8.

GIrls Basketball Preseason Clinic.  12 PM to 2:30 PM. Jackson College Jets women’s basketball invites area middle and high school girls to a preseason clinic on Sunday, Oct. 26! Get ready for the season with a high-impact clinic focused on skill work, live drills, and a full preseason workout session.
