Jackson College Hosts 9th Annual Free Halloween Spooktacular for Children.  5:30 PM to 7 PM.  Families are invited to join the fun at Jackson College’s ninth annual free Halloween Spooktacular Trick-or-Treat event on Friday, Oct. 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Children aged 12 and under are welcome to participate in this safe, family-friendly evening of trick-or-treating through the campus buildings. Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes (though it’s not required), and the event will begin at Bert Walker Hall on the Jackson College Central Campus. Children can trick-or-treat through the College’s buildings, gathering treats from various locations. The event promises a fun, not-so-spooky atmosphere perfect for young ones. This is a free event open to the entire community, offering a safe space for families to enjoy the spirit of Halloween. Jackson College is dedicated to serving its community through educational programs, events and family-friendly activities.  Location: Jackson College Central Campus, beginning at Bert Walker Hall.  Cost: Free!

Dahlem Goblin Walks.  Two Nights:  October 25, Friday 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm and October 26, Saturday 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm.  Fee per person:  $9/member, $12/non-member (free for infants).  Pre-Registration required to attend our annual Goblin Walks event.  Every 15 minutes a group of twenty five people head down the trail to enjoy an evening autumn color tour, a 1/2 mile trail walk meeting larger than life critters performing entertaining educational skits. The program is about one hour in length.  Photo opportunities, refreshments (cider & donuts!), and visit the gift shop.  Feel free to dress in costume and be ready for the weather!  The event operates rain or shine.  It’s great fun for the whole family!!  This event does not handout candy.  REGISTRATION REQUIRED for Dahlem members and non-members, so don’t wait – choice slots fill fast.  Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour walk to allow time to sign in.  Details and registration here.

Annual Halloween Party at Sandhill Crane Vineyards.  6 PM to 10 PM.  Join us for a killer time with juicy wine for Halloween this year! A costume contest and dancing with DJ White Lotus from 6-9pm.  Last call 9:30pm, closing at 10pm. Ages 21+ Only! Dress up with goals to WIN!  4724 Walz Rd, Jackson.

Corre Con Los Muertos ORS Running Series.  8 AM.   Come join us for the first Corre Con Los Muertos on October 26th. Costumes are encouraged.  Nuestra Comunidad is excited to announce the first annual Corre con Los Muertos – Run with the Dead on Saturday, October 26th at Cascades Park. Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de Los Muertos with Nuestra Comunidad (Our Community). Mt. Evergreen Cemetery Cleanup.  10 AM. Cleaning up Mt. Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. will be the last cleanup event of the 2024 season for People for the Parks and Trails (PPT).  Volunteers will assist in the removal of fallen branches, leaves, and trash from gravesites. There will also be grim stories shared of famous Jackson residents of yesteryear buried in the cemetery. Volunteers are meeting at the front cemetery entrance off Greenwood Avenue and Morrell Street. The time commitment is expected to be around 90 minutes.  No prior sign-up is needed, volunteers can just show up and get to work! Residents interested in joining future volunteer projects should fill out an Interest Form on PPT’s website.

Pumpkin Palooza.  2 PM.  Join us for painting pumpkins, puking pumpkins, pace car pumpkins, and more!  Intended for ages 3-12.  Call 517-905-1331 to register.  Carnegie Library, Downtown Jackson.

Jackson College and Northwest High School Fall Collaboration Concert. 6 PM.   Music lovers are invited to enjoy an evening of outstanding vocal performances at the Fall Collaboration Concert featuring Jackson College’s Vocal Point and the Northwest High School Concert Choir on Saturday, October 26, 2024. The concert will take place at 6 p.m. in the Northwest High School Cafetorium. This special event will showcase the talent of the Northwest High School Concert Choir, directed by Mr. Matt Snell, alongside Vocal Point, Jackson College’s premier vocal ensemble, directed by Dr. Richard Hintze. The concert is free and open to the public, offering a great opportunity for the community to come together and experience a night of remarkable music. We encourage everyone to join us for an evening of unforgettable performances. Don’t miss the chance to support our local choirs!

Young People of Purpose 8th Annual Fall Fundraiser. 5:30 PM.  Bringing the Village to Life at a community celebration.  Music, Spoken Word, Prizes, Auction.  Join us for a fun night of live entertainment to support a great community cause.  The attire for the event is dressy casual.  A full dinner will be served.  Tickets $30 at the door.  All proceeds go to YPOP Explorers.  Featuring Pastor Wayne Anthony White, Mrs. Renee Tylutki and Brandon Marcel.  More information here.  Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, 1107 Adrian Street, Jackson.

34th Annual Kiwanis Club of Brooklyn Arts & Crafts Show. Join us for the 34th Kiwanis Club of Brooklyn Arts & Crafts Show on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Columbia Upper Elementary School (Brooklyn, MI), from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Admissions is $1.00 or you can donate a nonperishable food item to the Brooklyn Food Pantry at either the front or back entrances. We have over 60 crafters & vendors including food items and a coffee truck near the front entrance. We also have a raffle every 1/2 hour of items provided by our wonderful crafter & artists.  Columbia Upper Elementary School, 321 School St, Brooklyn.

Michigan vs Michigan State.  7:30 PM.  Get ready for an exciting showdown as Michigan State takes on Michigan on the big screen on October 26, 2024! Doors will open at 7:00 PM, with kickoff at 7:30 PM. Enjoy our delicious $2 all-beef hotdog combo, featuring a quarter-pound hotdog topped with Todoroff’s coney sauce, fresh-cut onions, mustard, and ketchup. The combo also includes a bag of chips and a freshly baked cookie. Plus, don’t miss out on other tasty concessions and bar items available throughout the evening. Pumpkinfest. 5 PM to 7 PM.  Presented by Lutheran Church of the Lakes.  The fun includes outdoor Trunk or Treat from 5 to 6 PM, games, face painting, tattoos, hot dogs and juice, decorating pumpkins and cookies, popcorn, Lash’s Llamas, Addison fire truck and ambulance, photo selfie, a cake/cookie walk and more!  If you can,  bring a nonperishable item to fill the Blessings Cupboard.  8800 N.Rollin and US223, Addison.

Jo Dee Messina in Concert.  7 PM.  7 p.m.  Jo Dee Messina is one of the most iconic country artists of the ‘90s and ‘00s and still has a reputation as one of the genre’s most passionate, high-energy performers. Jo Dee kicked off her notable career with “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” a single that immediately made her a household name.  Following the success of her debut, Jo Dee had many other hits including “Bring on the Rain,” “Bye Bye,” “Lesson in Leavin,” “I’m Alright” and “Stand Beside Me.”  Potter Center Music Hall, Jackson College.  Tickets and more info here.
