Jackson College Spooktacular. 5 PM to 7 PM. The Halloween Spooktacular returns to Jackson College Central Campus! Children 12 and under are invited to the seventh annual free Halloween trick or treat event on Friday, Oct. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to dress in a Halloween costume (though not required) and trick or treat through campus buildings. Trick-or-treating will start in Bert Walker Hall. Handicapped accessible parking is available on the south or north side of Potter Center (near the College bookstore). Strollers and wagons are permitted; the route is completely handicap accessible with all locations being on the first floor of each building. The route will take you in and out of buildings so dress for the weather. Children are encouraged to bring a bag for treats. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the campus to direct visitors and distribute treats. In addition to candy there will be non-sweet treats and age-appropriate items. Sandhill Crane Vineyards Annual Halloween Party & Costume Contest w/ Live DJ!. 6 PM. Sandhill Crane Vineyards. Start planning one of the best days of the year!! We’re open late on this special Friday night to celebrate Halloween! Have delicious spooky themed foods and bust a move to tunes with DJ Scott White from 6-9pm. Get creative to enter the costume contests for the best: DIY/original Costume, Funniest Costume, Scariest Costume,Couples/Group Costume (friends or lovers!). Winners will take home a gift certificate to SCV! Enter the costume contest ’til 8pm, vote until 9pm with winners being announced at 9:15pm after the DJ is done! Jackson YMCA Halloween Event. Join us and Jackson County ISD on October 29 from 12 – 2 pm. Take a dip in the pool and choose a pumpkin from our floating pumpkin patch, try out the inflatable obstacle course or bounce house AND children birth to 5th grade will receive a FREE bag of books from JCISD and the Jackson Reads program.
Jackson Symphony Orchestra Children’s Halloween Concert. 3 PM. Costumes, candy, and more! Your little ghost or goblin will help haunt the Michigan Theatre for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s Halloween Children’s Concert. This exciting program features frightfully fun symphonic music perfect for young eyes and ears. The entire family is invited to dress up in their favorite costume along with our musicians to enjoy “boo-tiful” music! This concert is a wonderful chance for you to introduce your children to the wonders of live orchestral music. Don’t forget to enter your kiddos in our costume contest when you arrive! Admission includes: All museum exhibits, including How People Make Things locally presented by Arlo Steel. Ooky Spooky Light Show as available in the Hurst Planetarium. Tours of the Hillside Farmhouse as available. Mad Science Demonstrations. Halloween Photo Shoot sponsored by Sharronnie Garrett Photography. Face and Pumpkin Painting. Cider and Donuts. Mt. Evergreen Cemetery Clean Up. 10 AM. Boo! People for the Parks and Trails is heading back to Mt. Evergreen Cemetery this year for our annual Halloween cemetery cleanup! Volunteers will assist in the removal of fallen branches, leaves and trash from gravesites. There will also be grim stories shared of famous Jackson residents of yesteryear buried in the cemetery. The cemetery’s address is 1047 Greenwood Ave. Volunteers will meet at the front entrance near Greenwood Avenue and Morrell Street. This is the last official volunteer event of the 2022 season! Mt. Evergreen Cemetery is the City of Jackson’s oldest public cemetery and has been declared a historic landmark. Volunteer projects are open to all Jackson residents. No prior sign-up is needed, volunteers can show up and get to work! Equipment is provided by the Parks and Recreation Department. The time commitment is often around 90 minutes. Children are welcome at volunteer opportunities, provided they are supervised.
Soirée Macabre Art Show 2022. TheOdore, 402 W Michigan Ave, Jackson. The Soirée Macabre Halloween Art Show returns to Jackson, Michigan this fall. After a 2 year pause, we are thrilled to bring this event back to life. Join us Saturday, October 29th from 4-10 p.m. at TheOdore, an up and coming venue in Downtown Jackson, for a Halloween-themed pop-up art show featuring over 20 artists.$5.00 cover at the door. Live Music by The Orbiters with visuals by Matt Rozensky from 8-10 p.m. Craveable Food Trailer will be on site for yummy fall vegan foods. Costumes are (very) strongly encouraged! This is a Halloween-themed art show, be aware that some artworks may be disturbing for certain audiences.
The 32nd Kiwanis Club of Brooklyn Arts & Crafts Show. 9 AM to 3 PM. Columbia Upper Elementary School, 321 School Street, Brooklyn. Admission is $1.00 or a canned food item donation for the Brooklyn Food Pantry. We are accepting additional vendors, but it is filling up quickly.
