Back to School Bash Resource Fair Drive Thru.  6 PM to 8 PM.  First United Methodist Church, 275 West Michigan Avenue.  This year’s event will be drive thru only. Each child who is present in the car will receive a backpack filled with school supplies. The line will move fast so there is no need to line up early. All children must be present to receive supplies.  Thank you to our sponsors this year Henry Ford Allegiance Health, American 1 Credit Union, CP Federal Credit Union, County National Bank, JTV,  Dawn Foods, Meijer, Aeroquip Credit Union, Center for Family Health, and Consumers Energy. The Green Market at Henry Ford Allegiance Health.  9 AM to 2 PM.  Corner of East Michigan Avenue and Waterloo Street, across from the hospital.  Please respect social distancing, wear face masks and observe safety procedures.  All food and products sold at The Green Market at Allegiance Health are grown and produced in Michigan using little or no pesticides, herbicides, inorganic fertilizers, or antibiotics. This means healthier foods for the greater Jackson community and less pollution for our rivers and lakes.

Red Cross Blood Drives. The American Red Cross is now testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies. The antibody test used by the Red Cross is authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed symptoms.  At the same time, there continues to be an urgent need for blood donations after hospital demand for blood products increased in recent weeks.

Jackson YMCA Outdoor Exercise Classes.  Join the outdoor group exercise classes at the downtown Jackson YMCA.  Free for members, $5 for most classes for non-members.  Bring a mat, water bottle and towel.  Complete schedule at jacksonymca.org

Salvation Army Food Pantry.  The Salvation Army of Jackson County Food Pantry Hours:  Regular Pantry Hours are 10 am-noon and 1-2 pm Monday through Thursday.  Food Boxes are available every 30 days.*In an emergency food may be provided from 2-4:30 pm -please call ahead – 517-782-7185.  The Fresh Food Initiative (FFI) is every Monday from 9-10:30 am -through September 28. FFI is closed on Labor Day.  FFI is available to anyone in need – please bring ID.
