Fly on the Ford.  Experience the Golden Age of Aviation.  Recall the energy, passion, and excitement of the Roaring ’20s by flying aboard the Ford Tri-Motor. Known as the first luxury airliner, the Ford Tri-Motor redefined world travel and marked the beginning of commercial flight.  All ticket proceeds support the Experimental Aircraft Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing The Spirit of Aviation with everyone. Our tour stops are hosted by volunteers who are passionate about sharing the Ford Tri-Motor’s stories.  We invite families to visit and learn all about our aircraft and our organization. Viewing the aircraft is free, so be sure to bring your camera along.  Today at Jackson County Airport Reynolds Field.  Rides 2 PM to 5 PM.  Adults $70, child (17 and under) $50 advance online pricing at flytheford.org.  Walk up price $75.

Free Shredding Event.  Fight fraud – shred instead!  Join AARP Michigan and the City of Jackson for a free shredding event.  Today from 3 PM to 6 PM, Municipal Lot #3 (across from the Downtown YMCA, Wesley Street. 

Tobacco & You:  Learn How to Quit Smoking.  Learn about healthy living and how to quit smoking with this free smoking cessation group.  Every Thursday, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, LifeWays Meeting Rooms(Entrance at the back of the building).  LifeWays, 1200 North West Avenue.

Red Cross Blood Drive.  Calvary United Methodist  Church, 925 Backus Street, Jackson.  12 PM to 6 PM.  As summer winds down, the American Red Cross urges individuals to give blood now and help end an emergency summer blood shortage that began last month.

Free Tinkergarten Trial for Fall Season.  Tinkergarten – Outdoor classes where children learn through play!  0:00AM – 11:15AM.  Tinkergarten is play-based learning for children and their caregivers in the best possible classroom: the outdoors! Registration is required for this 75 minute, weekly experience that allows children of various ages build a host of skills from creativity, problem-solving, critical-thinking, literacy, communication, and collaboration. Ella’s Patio Party presented by Rehmann.  Please join us at Ella Sharp Museum for Ella’s Patio Parties with live music, appetizers from local favorites, and a cash bar. It’s the perfect way to unwind on a summer evening with friends and family.   5:30-7:30 p.m. Patio Parties are free for members and $5 for non-members. Zumba Under the Stars.  Join the party at The Cascades, presented by the Jackson YMCA, The Cascades, and Jackson County Health Department.  General admission $8 for individuals, $15 for families.  YMCA members $4 individuals, $10 for families.  This event begins at 8 PM and is the final session of the season.

Art Journal Workshop.  6 PM to 8 PM.  Journey into art journaling with Betty Kay. You will learn Betty Kay’s approach to art journaling as well as the essential tools, some non essential tools and techniques to get you started. Bring a journal, sketchbook, an old book or anything you would like to journal in.  Cost $35.  All other supplies are included.  RSVP is a must. Twilight Thursday with Billy Brandt and David Falk.  Cherry Creek Winery.  Billy Brandt is a multiple-award-winning Detroit area singer-songwriter, whose rootsy, folky, psychedelic alt-country background underpins strong songwriting and an adventurous spirit. A mainstay of the local Detroit scene, Billy’s collaborations with other artists are near-legendary.  7 PM to 10 PM. 11500 Silver Lake Highway, Brooklyn.
