USS Arizona Pearl Harbor Ceremony.  1 PM.  Cascades Park, at High Street.  The park is home to an exhibit featuring a piece of steel from the USS Arizona, a battleship sunk by Japanese torpedoes at Pearl Harbor.  A memorial ceremony featuring speakers and tributes.  All are welcome.

Healthwise Community Clinic.  Jackson College invites community members to a free HealthWise Community Clinic Thursday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free vascular screenings will be available in Justin Whiting Hall, Room 118, the Simulation and Innovation Center (SIC).  Your vascular system sends blood throughout your body, bringing vital nutrients to where they need to go. A vascular screening checks to make sure your veins and arteries are working properly. Screenings are recommended for anyone at risk for vascular disease or who has a personal or family history of cardiac disease, heart attack or stroke, or Type 1 diabetes. Available screenings will include:  Carotid Artery Stenosis, Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA).  Trained healthcare professionals perform all screenings. Clinics also provide an opportunity for college students to gain experience. Students will assist, under the supervision of a professional. Screenings will be free, but appointments are required. Crimson Oak Holiday Open House.   2nd annual Sip & Shop Open House.  Crimson Oak Wood Co, 1901 Horton Rd., 5:00 PM till 7:30 PM.  Enjoy a wonderful event with drinks and snacks.  Sale includes 15% of all products & 10% of all furniture.  Hope to see you here!

Holiday Charcuterie and Wine.  6 PM to 8 PM. Learn to build a holiday charcuterie board at this fun session! Class fee of $65 will include meats and cheeses, a board, a take-home box for your board, and wine tasting! Join us for a fun night making a side dish for your upcoming holiday party. The Jackson County Michigan Historical Society 2023 Holiday Party. First-floor ballroom, Commonwealth Commerce Center, 209 E. Washington Ave. 6-8:30 p.m. This fun, educational evening will include a dinner and presentation by a featured speaker. Get your ticket TODAY for 2023 Holiday Party on Thurs., Dec. 7 from 6:00-8:30PM, held at the Commonwealth Commerce Center. We have exciting plans for another educational and fun-filled evening of celebrations, refreshments, awards and a special presentation by Dr. Gregory Sumner, Professor and Co- Chair of History at the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Sumner will be speaking about WWII Prisoner of War Camps in Michigan—an especially pertinent topic since Dec. 7 is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and since Jackson County had POW camps in 1944 and 1945. Dr. Sumner teaches courses on twentieth-century American politics and culture and is the author of Michigan POW Camps in WWII (2018), among books. A fellow of the Andrew Mellon Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, he also was selected as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Rome (2001, 2010). Tickets are $25/person and available here.

Grass Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce Holiday Mixer.  5 to 7 PM.  Designs By Judy, 3250 Wolf Lake Rd. Grass Lake.  If you’ve never been to Judy’s store you’re in for a treat! The 2023 Holiday Mixer is free to members and non-members alike. Come enjoy holiday spirit, beverages, and snacks with other local business people in a warm and inviting atmosphere!

Live Music at Mancino’s.  An evening of live music featuring Mike Slim Crupi coming to you live at Mancino’s from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M.  3017 Wildwood Avenue, Jackson.

Wine Down for Dogs.  Love From Louie invites you to a special evening of saving dogs. Enjoy wine pairings, a pop-up art gallery, silent auction items and most importantly raising money for an amazing dog rescue. Open Mic Night at 308 Brass Rail.  Open Mic Thursday at the Brass Rail  The following will be provided:  P.A. system with powered speakers and an eight channel powered board, two microphones, two mic stands, one bass amp, and one monitor.  Guest performers are encouraged to perform three songs.  The event is co sponsored by THE MICHIGAN SONGWRITER’S ALLIANCE  and will be hosted by Brian Tucker and Steve Tucker.  Please come, perform, or get one of the greatest burgers on Earth.
