Free Outdoor Movie Event:  Young Frankenstein.  Jackson College welcomes guests to campus for another Concatenation Convention: ReAnimation series event, an outdoor showing of Mel Brooks’ “Young Frankenstein” at dusk (about 9 p.m.) on Thursday, July 29 (rain date Friday, July 30) on Central Campus. This year, Con Con presented an exploration of reanimation and the forces of nature that inspire humans to create incredible art and culture. Studies and lectures explored “Frankenstein,” “Swamp Thing,” zombies, electricity, and more! Now, the community is invited to see the 1974 classic on the west side of Potter Center. “Young Frankenstein” is a hilarious send-up of Universal monster movies and the Frankenstein story, in general. The movie will be free and be sure to bring a chair or blanket to be comfortable on the grassy hill. Simple snacks will be available,  but feel free to bring your own. Be sure to enter campus from Browns Lake Road.

Cascades Water Influence Study Public Meeting  Jackson County is in the process of conducting a water influence study to evaluate the hydrology and hydraulics of the Sparks Foundation County Park watershed. This comprehensive study will help quantify water levels and flows both above and below the ground surface. The watershed has been mapped, precipitation is being measured, and the operations of the park features are being monitored in an effort to understand how precipitation flows into the lagoons, and an array of monitoring wells have been installed to record groundwater levels. The goal of the study is to evaluate hydrologic flows, trends, and interactions between surface and groundwater systems, and to evaluate how they influence the water levels of the ponds and lagoons throughout the park.  County officials are hosting a public meeting on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 6:00 pm at the American 1 Credit Union Event Center, Keeley Park,  to discuss the study and resident concerns. Please visit the website (bit.ly/JCDOT) for more information.
