27th Annual Learning Fair.  The Annual Learning Fair is free and provides enough fun for an entire afternoon! This event offers more than 80 hands-on activities in industry, technology, and the arts for all ages. These activities are provided by local companies such as MACI, Lomar Machine and Tool Co., Uniloy-Milacron, Make Yours, and the Shop Rat Foundation! Activities include a petting zoo, fire truck and firefighters, police cars and officers, moonwalk, hovercraft, catapults, and robots! Each company provides a great hands-on activity to share! Don’t miss the shows too, including Baffling Bill the Magician and Potter’s Park Zoo.  Free lunch for all 18 and under.  Free transportation is provided by Jackson Area Transportation Authority.  Northwest Elementary School, 3757 Lansing Avenue.  Thursday, July 8th: 12 pm-7 pm.  Friday, July 9th: 10 am-5 pm.

The Green Market at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. 9 AM to 2 PM.  The Market is outdoors, at their official summer location – at the corner of E. Michigan Ave and Waterloo Street in Jackson (across from Henry Ford Allegiance Health – Main Hospital).  Every Thursday.  Connect with them HERE.  All food and products sold at The Green Market at Allegiance Health are grown and produced in Michigan using little or no pesticides, herbicides, inorganic fertilizers, or antibiotics. Ella Sharp Museum Patio Party.  5 PM to 7 PM.  Join us on select Thursday evenings during the summer for live music, food, and beverages on Farm Lane.  $15 cover charge per person. $10 cover charge for museum members using the member discount code. FREE for Sustainer Museum Members & Above using the patio party code.  Cover charge includes live music and a food ticket. Cover charge and donations benefit museum educational programming, events, & general operations.  This Thursday on the patio includes live music from Steve Berkemeier plus food from the 308 Brass Rail – all happening on our historic campus. Vaccination Clinic.  The final Henry Ford Allegiance Health COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center.  The clinic is from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 8. No appointment is needed. The MLK Center is located at 1107 Adrian Street.  During the past few weeks, this special clinic has served the surrounding neighborhood.  HFAH, Center for Family Health and Jackson County Health Department will continue vaccination opportunities at their locations.

Tails & Tales.  Jackson District Library’s summer reading program.  Register, read, and win this summer with Jackson District Library’s animal-themed reading program Tails & Tales.  Simply register at myjdl.com/srp21, read for four hours, log your time, and enter to win a wide variety of prizes including gift cards, guitars and music lessons, bicycles, books (of course), and more!  Summer events premiere (virtually) every Monday.  This week: Baffling Bill the Magician.  Take a virtual trip to Baffling Bill’s Illusionarium Magic Theater for a spectacular illusion show!  This program will be available on our Facebook page and here on our website July 5-11.

Cascades Splash Pad.  Monday thru Saturday, 11 AM to 7 PM.  Sunday 12 PM to 6 PM.  Fenced-in area on south side of Cascades Falls.  Zero-depth facility safe and fun for all ages.  12+ water features including waterfalls, arches, fountains ad getting poured on by the giant water bucket.  Lounge chairs, patio, concessions.  Season and family passes available, along with birthday party packages.  

Cascades Falls.  Open 8 PM to 11 PM Wednesday thru Sunday.  Ages 4 and up:  $2 admission.  Age 3 and under:  free.  Admission rates take effect at 7 PM.  JacksonCountyParks.org.

Golf at Ella Sharp Park.  Ella Sharp Park’s 18 hole golf course provides a challenge for golfers of all levels. The course features two of Jackson County’s most challenging golf holes (2nd & 12th holes) along with an array of other well-manicured fairways and greens. Call the clubhouse for tee times and rates at (517) 788-4066. The 18 hole Miniature Golf Course is located at the entrance of Ella Sharp Park.   Hours are 10:00am to 10:00pm.  The Disc Golf course is located in the southwest section of Ella Sharp Park along W. Hickory Avenue, the 18-hole course takes players through a scenic area of rolling hills, grassy openings, and large shade trees. The course is free to use, and was designed to be accessible to players of all skill levels.
