Jackson College Summer Concert Series:  Capital City Brass Band.  7 PM. Feel the rhythm of summer with Jackson College’s Summer Concert series! Enjoy great music, both outdoors on the Potter Center back patio and indoors in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall!  Potter Center back patio, Jackson College Central Campus.  Free!  Featuring musicians from Jackson, Lansing, and beyond, the award-winning Capital City Brass Band has thrilled audiences since 2001. Enjoy a lively mix of brass band music, jazz, and popular tunes!  All concerts are free! Some seating is available, but concertgoers may also bring lawn chairs for outdoors performances. In case of inclement weather, concerts will be held indoors.

Uncle Phil’s BBQ.  11:30 AM to 1 PM.  All are invited to the annual cookout supporting Jackson youth charities:  Junior Achievement, Michigan Theatre and Lumen Christi Catholic School.  Chicken and salads by Knight’s Steakhouse and Coneys by Virginia Coney Island.  Drinks and desserts. Stop by between 11:30-1pm to enjoy delicious food and see just what our beneficiaries are doing within the Jackson community. The cost for this lunch is just $20, with all proceeds going to charity! $1 Summer Kids Movie:  Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Jun 10, 2025 – Jun 12, 2025.  Sponsored by Kiwanis & American 1:  “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”.  Showtimes: 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM each day.  Kick off summer break with three days of free family movies at the historic Michigan Theatre of Jackson. We’re showing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on the big screen, sponsored by Kiwanis.  Admission is $1 for all ages.  Snacks and drinks will be available at the concession stand. Doors open 30 minutes before each showtime.  This is a great opportunity for kids and families to enjoy a cool afternoon at the theatre with a fun, action-packed movie.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

daVinci Big Birthday Celebration. 3 PM to 8 PM.  This summer marks the incredible 30th year of da Vinci Schools, and we’re kicking off the festivities with a BIG Birthday CELEBRATION for the entire Jackson community!  Join us for a fun-filled afternoon and evening on Thursday, June 12th, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the da Vinci Schools campus located at 2985 Springport Rd., Jackson. The entire Jackson County community is welcome to attend this free event!  We’ve planned a fantastic celebration packed with activities for all ages, including:  Exciting outdoor games for kids and adults,  Giant, fun-filled inflatables, Informative booths showcasing the unique opportunities da Vinci School provides, Guided tours of our facilities for prospective families. Designated enrollment areas for families interested in joining the da Vinci community.  Plus, enjoy delicious and refreshing Kona Ice and Nom Nom food truck specialties!  All are welcome!

24th Annual Jackson Blues Festival.  6 PM to 11 PM.  3 days of great Regional and National Blues Performers!  Admission $10 per day.  Located at St. John School, 405 East North Street, Jackson.  Sponsored by M&K Jetting and Televising.  Tonight’s lineup begins with The Mike Espy Group at 6 PM, The Harmonica Hounds at 7:45 PM (bring the kids!), Greg Nagy at 8 PM and The Kennedy Affair at 9:30 PM.   Event page here.

40 Years in the Hood:  The Detroit Heidelberg Project Exhibition at Ella Sharp Museum.  Witness an extraordinary exhibition curated by renowned Detroit-based artist Tyree Guyton, whose work has transformed the art world and inspired communities for over 40 years. Tyree Guyton is best known for his iconic Heidelberg Project, which has turned discarded objects into powerful symbols of community, resilience, and hope. Thank you to the Charles Aymond Foundation and Arlo Steel for sponsoring 40 Years in the Hood: Detroit’s Heidelberg Project. Thanks to The Heidelberg Project for making this exhibit accessible to Jackson’s youth, neighborhoods, and surrounding communities.
