Blue Skies – Looking for Spring Concert.  7 PM.  Jackson College’s concert choir, Vocal Point, will present Blue Skies – Looking to Spring, a concert featuring choral, jazz and folk arrangements, at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center.  Joining Vocal Point will be high school vocalists from Jackson Preparatory & Early College. A beautiful evening of music is planned, with pieces including:  “Declare, O Heavens,” by Kent Newbury, “Omnes Credere,” by Jim Papoulis, “Every Night When the Sun Goes In,” by Kent Newbury, “Blue Skies,” by Irving Berlin, arr. by Mark Hayes, and “May It Be,” from ‘Lord of the Rings,’ arr. by Mark Brymer.  Vocal Point is directed by Dr. Richard Hintze, vocal music instructor.  This concert is free, and all are welcome!

Member Movie Night at the Michigan Theatre.  Tonight’s film:  The Whale.   All Members get in Free every Thursday. Purchase a membership anytime for 30 dollars for an individual (per year). Non members cost is $5. Doors open at 6:30 P.M.  Film Begins at 7:00 P.M.

Encounters and Light: Paintings by Sam Knecht.  February 15 – May 30.  The Ella Sharp Museum is proud to host a new solo exhibition of landscapes and portraits by Michigan artist Sam Knecht.  Knecht is Emeritus Professor of Art, Hillsdale College, teaching 1973-2020. Additionally, he is a Signature Member of the Portrait Society of America and the Michigan Watercolor Society.  His landscapes are plein air and studio creations, all in a naturalistic style. Portrait selections are non-commissioned depicting unique individuals who inspired creative interpretation.

Singles Night Winter Series at Sandhill.  Are you single and unsure where to meet new people, or know where to hang out? Check out the variety of dates in February & March fitting for your age group and preference!  Bring a single friend of the opposite sex to the event and receive 1/2 off a glass of wine, beer, or cider! All evenings are 5:30 – 8 pm with the café and bar closing at 7:30 pm.  Singles any age LGBTQ+  2/16 & 3/9, Singles ages 40s & over 2/23 & 3/23, Singles ages 20s & 30s 3/2 & 3/30.  TONIGHT:  Singles ages 40s & over.  We had a fun evening with new friends on our first Singles Night. Kev Nichols Acoustic Thursday.  7 to 10 PM.  Kev Nichols is down to the Lounge doing some acoustic blues and other tunes. from 7 to 10  PM.  CC’s Classic Lounge, 629 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson.

5 Second Rule at the BlueStage Jam.  Come on out and Jam with us at BlueStage Jams in Napoleon with 5 – Second Rule. The Event is from 7-10.  398 W. Brooklyn Road, Napoleon.

March is Reading Month at the Jackson District Library.  March is Reading Month and get caught reading!  Dust off that book you’ve been putting off, pick up an old favorite you’ve already read a dozen times, or start reading that novel you got as a Christmas present because it’s time to celebrate March is Reading Month.  All ages can participate, and everyone from Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney to your favorite barista at your coffee corner is taking part in JDL’s reading challenge. Simply read a total of 4 hours during the month of March to win a free umbrella – just in time for April showers – and also get entered into our grand prize drawing for a wide variety of prizes including pool passes, a Dungeons & Dragons bundle, and more.  You can also snap a picture of yourself reading at any of JDL’s “Reading Nooks,” located at each library branch and tag JDL on social media along with #getcaughtreading for a bonus grand prize entry.  Register for the challenge in the beanstack app or by clicking here
