First Neighborhood Watch Meeting for Ward 1. 6 PM. Residents in Jackson’s First Ward have an upcoming opportunity to learn about how they can join forces to keep the area safe and support neighbors. An organizational meeting for the Ward 1 Neighborhood Watch Association is happening Thursday, March 30, at 6:00 p.m. at the MLK Recreation Center. Neighborhood groups, residents and First Ward City Councilmember Arlene Robinson are getting together with Jackson Police Department Group Violence Intervention (GVI) Coordinator Cheryl Ragland to launch this new neighborhood group. Ward 1 includes neighborhoods on the south side of Jackson. The MLK Recreation Center is located at 1107 Adrian St. For more information in forming a neighborhood watch program in your ward, please contact GVI Coordinator Cheryl Ragland at 517-768-8728.

Kiwanis Club of Jackson Presents Spring Break Film Series “Puss In Boots Last Wish”.  11 AM and 2 PM.  Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll when he learns that he has burnt through eight of his nine lives. Puss sets out on an epic journey to find the mythical Last Wish and restore his nine lives. $1 Dollar Admission.  $5 Kids Combo Small Pop and Popcorn.  Doors open thirty minutes before showtime.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Members Movie Night:  Women Talking.   Members get in free every Thursday. Purchase a membership anytime for 30 dollars for an individual (per year). Non members cost is $5.  Doors open at 6:30 P.M.  Film Begins at 7:00 P.M.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

DSLR 3 More Custom Settings for your DLSR.  6 PM to 8 PM.  This class explores auto exposure bracketing, exposure adjustments in the auto modes, understanding focusing modes, and back-button focus. Singles Night Winter Series at Sandhill.  Are you single and unsure where to meet new people, or know where to hang out? Check out the variety of dates in February & March fitting for your age group and preference!  Bring a single friend of the opposite sex to the event and receive 1/2 off a glass of wine, beer or cider!  All evenings are 5:30 – 8 pm with the café and bar closing at 7:30 pm.  Tonight:  Singles ages 20s & 30s.  Come with an open mind and positivity! Spring Break:  JDL Game Day.  Whether you’re in it to win it or just for the fun, get ready to play some games during Spring Break, March 24-April 2!  Start at any JDL branch to pick up your scorecard and start playing your way through all the games represented at the Jackson District Library.  Visit 3 locations to earn a prize, visit 7 locations to earn a second prize and visit 10 locations to earn a third prize and be entered into a grand prize drawing for a bundle of board games! You can also complete a trivia sheet at any branch for a grand prize entry, no traveling required.  All activities are available until 30 minutes before each library closes during the week of Spring Break.  Several of our StoryWalks will have special Choose Your Own Adventure stories during Spring Break. Spring Break Farm House Tours at Ella Sharp Museum.  Monday, March 27 – Friday, March 31 at 1:00 pm.  We’ve done some Spring cleaning just in time for Spring Break 2023! Join us as we open the doors to Ella Sharp’s Hillside Farmhouse for the season to the Jackson Community. Explore the home of Ella Sharp, learn more about the Merriman-Sharp family and how Ella planted the seed for the museum and park we now know today.  More info and registration here.

Spring Break Planetarium Shows: DinoSOARS.  Monday March 27 – Friday March 31 at 11:30 am, 2:30 pm, and 4:00 pm.  Did you know? Birds are living dinosaurs! Follow the story of Malkia, a museum paleontologist, as she explores fascinating connections between birds and dinosaurs. Join us as we dive into the theory that birds evolved from dinosaurs! Showing at 11:30 am, 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm every day of Spring Break: March 27-31!  Hurst Planetarium, Ella Sharp Museum.

Hidden Women of Color.  A Pop-Up Exhibit Featuring the Art of Jerome Washington during March 2023.  Whatever task they tackled, whatever sacrifices they made, whatever boundaries they had to cross. The Hidden Women of Color are women who made a choice to do what they had to do despite the cost.  One common thread that seems to fuel these remarkable women: To help and elevate others.  It has been a labor of love to discover these women, and their achievements and to bring them out of the shadows. The Ella Sharp Museum is proud to feature this pop-up exhibit throughout the month of March. 

Pokemon Thursdays.  We are a group of local Pokemon Trading Card Game players that get together Thursday Nights from 5:30 to 9 PM to play, trade, and enjoy the Pokemon Trading Card game.   We have players of all ages.  Young kids who are just discovering the world of Pokemon to players that have been playing from the beginning.  We can help you learn, and build your deck or your collection.  We also sell Pokemon products.  If you like Pokemon join us Thursday Nights.  The Arena, 1949 Lansing Avenue, Jackson.
