The Circus on Ice Magic Tour Show. 1st SHOW – 4:30pm, 2nd SHOW – 7:00pm.  American 1 Event Center, 128 W Ganson St, Jackson.  Get your tickets in advance here.  The great Circus On Ice invites you to this frozen adventure with all your favorite characters and amazing circus acts. Enjoy along with your family the performances of our jugglers, equilibrist, clowns and sensational ice-skaters. Ice Skaters will perform on synthetic ice surfaces.

Explore the Night: Signs of Spring.  6 PM. Let’s explore and use our night senses! Join Ella Sharp Museum and the Dahlem Nature Center for a wonderful night under the stars!  The nature walk, led by Dahlem Naturalist Educator, Carrie Benham, will explore how plants and animals are preparing for the warmer months ahead of us, share information about nocturnal animals and the senses they use, and share how we as humans can better develop our own senses and awareness during the night.  Tickets are nonrefundable. In the event of a rainy day, tickets will be applied to a rescheduled date. If attendees must cancel, their credit can be applied to other events EXCEPT the Art, Beer, and Wine Festival. Recommended for ages 12+.  Proceeds from this program benefit both the Dahlem Center and Ella Sharp Museum. Your ticket supports this program and future programming. This event takes place at the Dahlem Center.  Price: $12 for Adults, $8 for 17 and under.  Tickets here.

Open Mic Night at Art 634.  6:30-9 PM.  Open Mic Night at Art 634, 634 N Mechanic St., Jackson.  Share your talent at Art 634! Stand Up, Music, Poetry, Storytelling, Theater, or whatever creativity you want to show. Monthly in the Main Gallery at Art 634, hosted by a different local artist each month – for artists, by artists!  Coffee, tea, cocoa, water. Diabetes Support Group.  6 PM to 7 PM.  Join our monthly diabetes support group, a free resource for those with diabetes, prediabetes, and their caregivers.  Join and learn how to:  Lower stress and learn healthy coping skills,  Prepare balanced meals, Become more physically active, Keep your blood sugar level under control, Discover resources for ongoing support.  You can learn how to prevent or reduce more serious health issues down the road have a chance to connect with fellow community members. Rider Appreciation Week.  The Jackson Area Transportation Authority annual JATA Rider Appreciation Week,  May 15th-May 19th, celebrated in correlation with National Transportation Week. This week-long celebration of the riders of JATA returns after a 3-year COVID pause and will include giveaways, free popcorn, and prizes from select community partners.  Location:  Downtown Jackson Transfer Center, located at 137 W. Cortland St. 

Art Show by Lou’s Crew.  6 PM to 9 PM.  Art 634 is excited to welcome Lou’s Crew – an art show by Lou Cubille and his students. Lou is one of the longest working art teachers in the Jackson area and is the only artist still working out of what was originally coined the Armory Arts building. Lou’s contributions to the Jackson art community are immeasurable, and we thank him for his dedication and hard work over the years.  Lou’s Crew is a gathering of local artists that get together at Lou Cubille’s studio to learn to paint with acrylics.  Lou’s studio is at 100 Armory Court and for those interested in attending, there’s a small fee for a 2 hour session. Kids Planetarium Show:  Imagine the Moon.  12 PM.  When was the last time you looked at the Moon? Not Just noticed it, but really looked at it? To most of us the Moon seems like an afterthought, a thing we might notice in passing and then not give a second glance. But the Moon’s place in our lives is so much more than just its physical presence in the sky. It is a constant companion in our collective imagination.  Hurst Planetarium, Ella Sharp Museum.

May Planetarium Show:  The Hot and Energetic Universe.  4 PM.  High Energy Astrophysics explores hot gas in clusters of galaxies, which are the most massive objects in the universe. It also probes hot gas accretion around supermassive black holes in the centers of galaxies. This documentary uses immersive visualizations and real images from modern astronomy to dive into the basic principles of electromagnetic radiation and the natural phenomena related to High Energy Astrophysics.  Hurst Planetarium, Ella Sharp Museum.
