Bright Walls The Finale Opening Day!  Bright Paws – Presented by True Community Credit Union.  6 PM – 11 PM.  Murals painted by artists from across the globe. Located in downtown Jackson, Michigan. Today:  The Bright Paws Dog Parade and Pageant is BACK! Bring your four-legged friends to the 2020 “Have a Nice Day” mural at the back of the Jackson District Library — Carnegie Branch.  After taking photos, we will parade with our pups down Michigan Avenue (a ½ mile walk) to the 2022 Bright Walls Festival.  Once there, those interested and registered (Register here) can join the fun for the Bright Paws Pup Pageant where every dog will have his/her day (or 10 seconds of fame) on stage!For the parade and pageant, we ask that you only bring your dog if they are comfortable being around people and other dogs, make sure your dog is leashed and clean-up after your dog.  Following the Bright Paws festivities, Joe Hertler and The Rainbow Seekers will perform a free concert for all to enjoy!   Presented by: True Community Credit Union.

Ogma Power Hour at Bright Walls.  9 PM.  Come get down w/ Carbon Decoy at Bright Walls during the Ogma Power Hour (Alley Stage) on Thursday, Sept 8 at 9 pm!  Carbon Decoy is a Michigan garage rock band with doom, stoner, and psychedelic influences and happens to be one of our Michigan favs! Stage 2 is in the alley right next to Ogma and there will be a beer tent conveniently located near the stage.

Bright Walls Concert Ticket Pre-Sale.  Bright Walls The Finale is this week!  September 8-11 the Festival returns with more than 30 artists painting murals in downtown Jackson, Food Trucks, family activities, and more than 30 concerts!  Three headline concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are ticketed events.  Friday:  Rock the Block – featuring Your Generation in Concert.  Saturday:  Back to the 90’s – featuring The Verve Pipe & The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air.  Sunday:  Sunday Funday – featuring The Fab Four – Ultimate Beatles Tribute.  Buy one or save by getting all three!  Tickets and more information here.

The Future of Comedy Show.  8 PM.  On this episode of The Future of Comedy Show at The Brass Rail we have nationally touring headliner J Bell from Kevin Hart’s Hart of The City on Comedy Central with Mike Ball , Steve Kaz and Jason Vest. Doors are at 7pm and show begins at 8pm.  308 Brass Rail, 308 West Prospect Street, Jackson.

Mann House Women’s History Conference.  Glory Halleluiah! Women Shaping Faith 3rd Annual Mann House Women’s History Conference.  9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Concord United Methodist Church, 119 South Main Street, Concord.  This year’s conference theme centers on the role of faith in the lives of Mary Ida and Jessie and that of other women in their small rural community. The Mann sisters were brought up in the First Presbyterian Church of Concord, where Jessie became an elder in her later years. Featured presenters at this year’s conference include Elona Street-Stewart, Co-Moderator, 224th General Assembly (2020) of the Presbyterian Church in America, and Rev. Carol Bodeau, a native of Concord who now lives in Tennessee. Bodeau has done extensive research on the First Universalist Church of Concord. The daylong program will include histories of Concord’s local churches, focused on the role of women, and tours of Concord’s historic churches. Get your ticket here.

 Registration-Tryouts-Open Skate. Jackson Thursday Night Novice Hockey.   Register for the 2022-2023 Season.  Please register for the 2022-23 Season and then pay by Check\Cash or Credit Card(3% added by Arena) at the Arena!  The ice fees (NOT INCLUDING USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION FEES) will be $395.00 per skater, and $290.00 per goalie (no change). The ice fees will be paid in full at the time of registration; we are not doing a payment plan. Also, all checks need to be made out in the following manner: “Jason Zaggy Thursday Night Hockey”.  The rink will be accepting credit card payments on the league’s behalf; the rink will collect an additional 3% on top of our league fee (the league only gets the league fee, none of the 3% added for Credit Card payments at rink = $406.85 for skaters / $298.70 for goalie.  Registration will be September 8th, starting at 6:30 pm.  Try-Outs at 8:00 – 8:30 pm.  Open skate 8:30 – 10:00 pm
