Jackson School of the Arts 13th Annual Fairy Festival.  This year’s festival is a digital event.  Join us on Facebook and at jacksonarts.org/fairy for all the activities of the event.  Crafts, costumes, contests, and more!  This will be a very special time filled with activities, crafts, and vendors inspired by child-like imagination. Boys and girls always to join in the online activities and find the Festival full of wonderment and their grown-up companions can’t help but rediscover the child inside themselves as well!  This virtual event is free and includes arts & crafts, story time, a Fairy Garden and Costume Contest, dancing fairies and other performances. Bright Walls “Calling All Artists”.  Calling artists young and old!  Bright Walls is putting together a community mural with the Jackson District Library and we need your help!  Your local library branch will have wooden tiles for anyone interested to pick up. Take it home, decorate it however you want — GET CrEaTiVe!  Return tiles to any Jackson District Library branch before August 7. Red Cross Blood Drives. The American Red Cross is now testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies. The antibody test used by the Red Cross is authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed symptoms.  At the same time, there continues to be an urgent need for blood donations after hospital demand for blood products increased in recent weeks.

Jackson YMCA Outdoor Exercise Classes.  Join the outdoor group exercise classes at the downtown Jackson YMCA.  Free for members, $5 for most classes for non-members.  Bring a mat, water bottle and towel.  Complete schedule at jacksonymca.org

Salvation Army Food Pantry.  The Salvation Army of Jackson County Food Pantry Hours:  Regular Pantry Hours are 10 am-noon and 1-2 pm Monday through Thursday.  Food Boxes are available every 30 days.*In an emergency food may be provided from 2-4:30 pm -please call ahead – 517-782-7185.  The Fresh Food Initiative (FFI) starts July 13 and is every Monday from 9-10:30 am -through September 28. FFI is closed on Labor Day.  FFI is available to any one in need – please bring ID.
