New Year’s Eve Midday Family Event at the Jackson YMCA. Families: Ring in the New Year at the YMCA in Jackson! On Dec. 31 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., kids can celebrate the New Year with their family at our Noon Year’s Eve party, a free community event. It features a balloon drop at noon, crafts, snacks and more. Ages infant to 13; adults stay and ring in the New Year as a family. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Red Cross Blood Drive. 9:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m., St. Joseph’s Shrine, 8743 US-12. Irish Hills. Individuals are urged to give a lifesaving gift this holiday season by making an appointment to donate blood or platelets and help the American Red Cross ensure a sufficient supply is available for patients throughout the holiday season. Those with type O blood are especially needed.

New Year’s Eve Dial-A-Ride. The Jackson Area Transportation Authority is providing free rides home on New Year’s Eve. JATA will drive you home from your party, bar or restaurant. Reservations will be taken beginning at 11 PM and rides will run through 4 AM. Call at least 45 minutes in advance at 788-8410. Rides are available only to take you to your home.
