The History of Gilbert Chocolates. 6 PM.  Join the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society for a free, engaging presentation on the rich history of one of Jackson’s most beloved local businesses, Gilbert Chocolates! This event, held at the Carnegie Branch of the Jackson District Library, will take place on January 14th at 6:00 PM. The owners of Gilbert Chocolates will guide you through the fascinating story of their iconic confectionery business, which has been a staple in Jackson since its founding in 1900. From its humble beginnings to becoming a cherished part of the community’s cultural heritage, learn how Gilbert Chocolates has sweetened the lives of generations of Jackson residents. This is a unique opportunity to hear firsthand from the current owners about the legacy, craftsmanship, and innovations that have kept Gilbert Chocolates thriving for over a century. Admission is free, and all are welcome! Come explore the history, share your memories, and maybe leave with a craving for some delicious chocolates. Nerdy Pop Trivia Night at Ogma.  6:30 PM.  Join us at Ogma for a fun-filled meet-and-mingle trivia night! Hosted by Cody from Lockwood’s Loot, the evening features three rounds of thrilling pop culture trivia, perfect for solo players or teams. This is the first in a four-part trivia series, and the theme for the night is Popular Cartoons! Compete for awesome prizes from Ogma and Lockwood’s Loot. College Catch Up Workshop.  3 – 4 p.m. Virtual.  Are you new to taking college courses or coming back after taking some time off and want to make sure you have all the skills to get started? The Jackson College Center for Student Success is offering FREE College Catch-Up workshops to help you:  Canvas Training, Learn differences between Canvas and JetStream., Learn to manage your time by building a weekly study/homework schedule.  Learn how to download and use Microsoft Office for free as a student! Students will also review basic computer skills like opening e-mail, creating and saving documents, using different Internet browsers and more. We are offering a similar workshop called Welcome to Canvas that will focus on supporting students who are currently taking the course through Jetway or as a part of their Seminar Life in Pathways course.
