Kiwanis Summer Kids Movie Series at the Michigan Theatre, downtown Jackson.  Today, “Sherlock Gnomes” at 11 AM and 2 PM.  Garden gnomes, Gnomeo & Juliet, recruit renowned detective Sherlock Gnomes to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments.  Admission is $1.00  Doors open one half hour before movie.  Film starts at 11:00 AM and 2 PM.  Kids combos available for $4.00.

Downtown Jackson Farmer’s Market is open today from 9 am until 2 pm at the corner of Louis Glick & Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson.  The market features Michigan-grown produce; including fresh vegetables, fruits, organic goods, vegan cookies, muffins, granola, honey, jams, breads, pastas, jewelry, dog treats, salsas, fruit pies, sweet corn, tomatoes, hanging flower baskets, blueberries, maple syrup, chard, broccoli, peas, mums, and much more!

Pre-Ballet Summer Try It Class.  Jackson School of the Arts, 634 North Mechanic Street, Jackson.  This is a perfect time to try ballet.  This class is for ages 2 1/2 to 4.  July 16th-18th at 4:30 PM.  $24 for 3 classes.  There are also pre-ballet sessions July 23rd – 25th and August 7th-9th. Call 517-784-2389 for information or visit jacksonarts.org.

Open Art Studio.  Jackson School of the Arts is launching a new Art Lab Open Studio program to serve as flexible area of independent creative work with guidance from our artist. Participants can experiment with different visual art mediums and techniques while gaining insight from advisors and other creative   minds in our community. All skill levels are welcomed.Teens and Adults (Age 14 and Up):  Tuesday Evenings from 6:45 to 8:15 PM, between now and August 14 (but no session on July 24th)  $60 for a 5-Day Pass and Complimentary Sketch Pad, $15 for a 1-Day Drop-In Pass.  Youth (Ages 9 to 13):  Tuesday Evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.  Between July 10th and August 14 (but no session on July 24th)  $50 for a 5-Day Pass and Complimentary Sketch Pad, $12 for a 1-Day Drop-In Pass.  All supplies included.
