Game and Media History. 2 PM to 3:30 PM. Join us at the Meijer Branch to experience the history of video games and other media with our guest speaker, Jonah Magar! Video games have vastly grown from their “byte”-sized origins, and Jonah, the Gaming Collection & DMC Services Coordinator at MSU, will be sharing his knowledge on the evolution of games, consoles, and other media. Jonah will also be bringing some pieces from his collection that patrons are welcome to play and interact with! All ages welcome! No registration necessary. Meijer Branch, Jackson District Library.
Spring Break at JDL: Ready Patron One! Jump into a warp pipe and visit the worlds of Mario, Pac-Man, Animal Crossing, and more during Spring Break week at the library – March 27 – April 5! To begin your adventure, register for the Spring Break challenge in Beanstack. This is where you will track your progress, explore what’s new this year, and earn grand prize entries. Choose your play style: You can complete your adventure with any combination of in-person and online activities – just make sure to record your progress for all activities in Beanstack. In-Person – Visit as many of our 13 library branches as you like to complete activities and collect buttons from each location. Activities are available until 30 minutes before each library closes during the week of Spring Break. Online – Sometimes all you need to travel is your imagination! Explore online activities that count toward your completion goal anywhere, anytime during Spring Break. Links to all of the online activities can be found in Beanstack.
Sound Meditation. 6 PM. An Evening of Sound & Stillness Join us Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00 PM for a peaceful sound meditation led by Jaime Lawrence; a licensed MT-BC. In the middle of busy schedules and full calendars, this is your invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and let gentle sound guide you into rest. Through intentional tones and guided relaxation, you’ll experience a calming space for renewal — body, mind, and spirit. Come as you are. Bring a mat or blanket if you’d like. AWARE Community Jean Drive. March 23-April 6. Denim Day is a powerful symbol of support during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Donate your old jeans today to help us create jean banners in Jackson, to be displayed by turning denim into a message of awareness, resilience, and change for survivors of sexual assault. Drop off locations are AWARE, 706 West Michigan Avenue and SOAR Cafe, 401 N. Mechanic Street.
