College Night.  6 PM to 7:30 PM.  Are you ready to explore your college and higher education opportunities? Join us for Jackson College’s College Night on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Bert Walker Hall Community Rooms 144-145!  Attend this free event to find information and advice from representatives of more than 50 colleges, universities and financial institutions.  Students of all ages are welcome, from high school students to adults thinking about college. Current college students interested in transfer may speak with university representatives about transfer opportunities. Register here.

Jackson College/Community Concert Band Presents ‘Players’ Choice’ Concert.  7 PM.  Join the Jackson College/Community Concert Band for a spectacular evening of music as the nearly 80-member ensemble presents a free concert, “Players’ Choice,” on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in Harold Sheffer Music Hall, located in the Potter Center on the Jackson College campus. Concertgoers can expect to hear classics like Gustav Holst’s Jupiter, Julie Giroux’s Burning the Wicker Man, Frank Ticheli’s emotional An American Elegy, and John Philip Sousa’s lively march Fairest of the Fair. The program will also feature exciting new arrangements of folk songs, music inspired by online gaming, and a special mini-set by Jackson College’s very own Jazzy Jets ensemble.  Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear what the musicians have chosen to perform! The concert is free and open to the public.

Halloweentown Trunk or Treat. 6 PM to 8 PM.   Join us for a fun-filled Trunk or Treat at Keeley Park (Jackson County Fairgrounds)!  From 6-8 PM on October 22nd, experience a spooktacular event that brings you lots of sweets!  Free for everyone!  Presented by Jackson County Parks.

Jackson Audubon Society:  Watkins Lake Fall Tour. 9 AM to 12 PM.  Join us for a visit to Watkins Lake State Park & County Preserve for a fall tour. We will walk the preserve east and check out the view from the top of the park. Then see if there’s any waterfowl activity on the lake. Meet at the parking lot which is on the north side of the park on Arnold Rd. This event is free and open to the public. Julia Child: A Recipe for Life. New Exhibit at Ella Sharp Museum.  Julia Child: A Recipe for Life, explores the key ingredients in Julia’s personal journey, which became part of America’s culinary revolution, through a series of immersive experiences. Julia’s insatiable curiosity and tenacious spirit drove her to endlessly try, test, and teach how to make delicious food. Learning empowered Julia and she in turn empowered others, profoundly transforming American cuisine and food culture.  Julia Child: A Recipe for Life is a traveling exhibition produced and toured by Flying Fish, developed in collaboration with Napa Valley Museum, supported by The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, the Schlesinger Library, Harvard Radcliffe Institute, and generously sponsored by Oceania Cruises.  Tuesday – Friday: 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday: 11:30am – 4pm, Sunday – Monday: Closed.  Admission includes Museum Galleries and Hurst Planetarium Shows.  Check here for updates.
