
Vital to Victory Exhibit at Lost Railway Museum. How Motorwomen Challenged & Changed the World. Now through November 21. Admission $5. Vital to Victory features the often-untold lives of women in the rail industry, from early electric streetcar drives to modern locomotive engineers. Women were initially only granted entry to these jobs during World War I and World War II when male employees were drafted into service. Lost Railway Museum, Michigan Avenue, Downtown Grass Lake.
School Age Child Care. Jackson YMCA and Jackson Public Schools are partnering to offer school-age child care for young fives through fifth grade. Beginning August 31, fee-based full-day and after-school care will be available at T.A. Wilson and financial assistance is available. The program will adhere to safety guidelines and includes homework assistant and fun activities. Due to distancing requirements, space is limited so sign up today at JacksonYMCA.org.
Salvation Army Food Pantry. The Salvation Army of Jackson County Food Pantry Hours: Regular Pantry Hours are 10 am-noon and 1-2 pm Monday through Thursday. Food Boxes are available every 30 days.*In an emergency food may be provided from 2-4:30 pm -please call ahead – 517-782-7185. The Fresh Food Initiative (FFI) is every Monday from 9-10:30 am -through September 28. FFI is closed on Labor Day. FFI is available to any one in need – please bring ID.
