2022 PBA David Small’s Best-of-the-Best Open.   JAX 60.  The Top 50 players in the world are scheduled to compete!  Today’s schedule:  10 am – Casher’s Round (4 games).  1:30 pm – Top 16 (2 games).  3:30 pm – Top 8 (2 games, Top 4 Step Ladder Finals).  6:30 pm – Pack the Center.  8 pm – Crown Champion.  The public is invited to attend. Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Community Awards Week.  The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Night of Distinction recognizes and provides visibility to individuals, volunteers, and groups that have made exceptional contributions to Jackson, making it a better place to live, work and raise a family. This special evening applauds vision, leadership, commitment, and service by awarding Community Awards as well as celebrating past & incoming board members of the Jackson Chamber.  The event was postponed due to the snowstorm, but award winners will still be announced and celebrated during Community Awards Week, February 7-11. Winners will be announced on the Jackson Chamber’s Facebook page, and you can tune in to daily media tours on JTV, WKHM – Jackson’s NewsTalk Radio, 106.9 HOME.fm, and Jackson Magazine.

Ceramics-Open Studio Sessions.  Ella Sharp Museum.  Open studio opportunity for ceramics students to continue working on their hand-building, throwing and glazing without guided instruction.  Date: February 2 – March 30, 2022.  Only open during regular business hours:  Wednesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday, 12 -5 p.m.  Price: $10 per day.  Fee must be paid at the information desk upon arrival

YPOP Exhibit at Ella Sharp Museum.  Diane Washington and Ella Sharp Museum present “Bringing the Village to Life: The YPOP Explorers-Young People of Purpose Story”. Exhibit and program support comes from American 1 Credit Union.  What started out as a way to introduce art to youth has become a community outreach movement: YPOP (Young People of Purpose). The exhibition, Bringing the Village to Life: The YPOP Story now on display at Ella Sharp Museum and shares the story of Jackson’s Diane Washington and the YPOP organization.

Winter Wonderland LEGO Contest.  The Spring Arbor Branch invites kids ages 3-17 to create a winter wonderland out of LEGO! Creations can be dropped off at the Spring Arbor Branch February 1-28 during open hours. Prizes will be awarded for 3 age groups.   For questions, stop by or call the Spring Arbor Branch at 517-750-2030.  Please note, no LEGO kits will be accepted for the contest.

Racism in the Military Exhibit.  Michigan’s Military Heritage Museum is featuring a Michigan Humanites funded exhibit “Racism in the Military”.  It is a compare and contrast of Colonel Charles Young,the third black graduate of West Point, with Major General Robert Smith a US Army Division Commander and Vietnam Veteran.  It is sponsored by American 1 Credit Union.   Michigan’s Military Heritage Museum, 311 N.
