Storytime at the Meijer Branch.  11 AM.  It’s never too early to start exploring and learning with your child! JDL storytimes offer age-appropriate books, music, and activities for babies, toddlers, families, and young children.  Most importantly, they help develop everyone’s imaginations Storytime at the Meijer Branch will run weekly on Wednesdays from January 12 to February 23.  Meijer Branch, Jackson District Library.

The Great 50/50 Raffle.  Ticket sales now through January 31.  Two prized drawn each month, February thru November, 2022.  $100 per ticket.  Prize value depends on the number of tickets sold by January 31, 2022.  To order, call 517-787-5080.  Proceeds to benefit Jackson Catholic Schools and Parishes.

Celebrate Chinese New Year.  Jackson District Library.  Stop by any JDL branch to pick up a kit with crafts and activities for learning about and celebrating the Chinese New Year.  Kits available while supplies last.

Michigan Theatre Presents “The Cameraman”.   Thursday. Doors open at 6:30 pm. The film begins at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5. Michigan Theatre Members receive FREE ADMISSION.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

J-DART Fundraiser at Culver’s. Thursday 4 PM to 8 PM. JDART is a non-profit organization that provides support services to Jackson County First Responders. Our volunteers provide food, beverages and rehab services 24/7/365 in all weather conditions to our Police, Fire, EMS and support agency personnel.  Grab your family and friends and come on out for dinner or simply come for dessert. A portion of your purchase is donated to J-Dart to help with operational expenses and supplies. If you can’t stay, the take out and drive thru purchases will also go toward our fundraiser.  We look forward to seeing you there

Djangophonique at Jerry’s Pub & Restaurant. Thursday 7:30 PM.  This is a fundraiser for the Brooklyn Food Pantry; any size donation will be accepted for admission.  Djangophonique is a musical project born out of reverence for the Parisian Jazz Manouche style that was made popular by the legendary Sinti guitarist Django Reinhardt and his Quintette du Hot Club de France. While remaining steeped in the rich and virtuosic tradition, the group brings this music into the present with stunning improv, spontaneity and musical interaction. Hot swing, lush ballads, musette waltzes, jazz standards, boleros, and moody minor pieces are all fused together with theatrical flair and musical humor.  Jerry’s Pub, 650 Egan Highway, Brooklyn.

MLK Diversity Celebration.  Friday 7:30 AM to 9 PM.  American 1 Credit Union Event Center, Keeley Park, Downtown Jackson.  Event by Jackson County Chamber of Commerce with featured art from the Jackson District Library.  Mission: To promote community collaboration, reflect Dr. King’s dream and to motivate youth for service and excellence.  This year’s community celebration to honor the legacy of Dr. King returns to an in-person breakfast on January 14th featuring an inspirational keynote from Jackson native and Spring Arbor University graduate, BABBIE MASON.   This event is made possible by AARP Michigan, US Staffing Agency, and Henry Ford Health System. Event takes place at the American 1 Event Center.  To reserve a table or sponsorship, contact Amanda Loveland at Amanda@JacksonChamber.org or call (517)782-8221, or register online at www.jacksonchamber.org/mlk
