Kaboomistry.  4 PM.  Why do things explode? Kids can learn about the relationships between pressure, temperature, and fuel to explain why things go KA-BOOM! We’ll mix physics and chemistry to get some loud, flashy effects.  Carnegie Library: July 10, 4 PM.  No registration required. Kiwanis Kids Film Series: “Migration”.  A family of ducks decides to leave the safety of a New England pond for an adventurous trip to Jamaica. However, their well-laid plans quickly go awry when they get lost and wind up in New York City. The experience soon inspires them to expand their horizons, open themselves up to new friends, and accomplish more than they ever thought possible.  The Michigan Theatre Kids Film Series is sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Jackson.  Showtimes are 11 AM and 2 PM.  Doors open one half hour before showtimes.  Kids Combo:  Small Drink and Popcorn for $5. Admission is $1. Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

RESCHEDULED City of Jackson Summer Safety Series. The Summer Safety Series event scheduled for Wednesday, July 10 at Loomis Park has been rescheduled to Wednesday, July 17. The event is rescheduled due to heavy rain that’s expected Wednesday. The event will now take place on Wednesday, July 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Loomis Park.

CANCELED Food Truck Wednesdays. 11 AM to 2 PM.  Join us for Food Truck Wednesdays at Ella Sharp Museum. Food trucks will be parked on farm lane, and the granary patio will be open for seating. We look forward to seeing everyone there!  April 10th – September 11th, Every Other Wednesday.  Today’s food trucks:  Craveable, Melted, West Texas BBQ, Junkyard 2 Go, Baby Bear Burger, Callaghan’s Coffee.

Wednesday Family Night at The Cascades.  Wednesday Family Night Show starts at 7:30 PM.  Admission:  $10 for up to 8 family members.  Live entertainment plus special costumed characters every week!  Tonight:  Cirque Amongus Show & Workshop.  All shows are weather permitting.  Visit jacksoncountyparks.org.

POSTPONED Summer Songs:  An Outdoor Concert.  Join the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and Dahlem for a FREE outdoor concert performance! Bring your own lawn chair or blanket and sit under the trees or out in the grass and listen to a selection of summer songs performed by the Jackson Symphony Orchestra brass quintet. The performance will be held outdoors at the Dahlem Environmental Education Center pavilion, 7117 South Jackson Road, at 7 p.m. Please feel free to arrive early and enjoy a walk on the trails, play at the nature playscape, or stop by the exhibit room and gift shop. *Note: Due to the concert being outdoors, if there is inclement weather the performance will be postponed to July 17. Johnson Sign 60th Anniversary Celebration Ribbon Cutting. 4 PM.  Join us as we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Johnson Sign Co! The event will feature snacks from Grazing Co. Charcuterie, dessert from Five Forks Bakery and drinks from Zero Bar & Lounge! Sharp Park Mini Golf.  The Ella Sharp Park Mini Golf is open for the season.  7 days a week, 12 Noon to 8 PM.  18 holes:  $7 per person.  Groups of 5 or more $5 per person.  Located at the Fourth Street entrance to Sharp Park.

Jets Air Station Opening Week.  You are invited to experience the new Jets Air Station at Jackson College, now open! After months of anticipation, the finishing touches have been made, and the Jets Air Station is ready to welcome guests!  The hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays & Sundays (hours may change based on usage). This brand-new inflatable air dome provides more space for college athletics, student and community workouts, and public events. Inside, the Air Station features a rubberized floor with four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, six pickleball courts, and two tennis courts. A marked walking track surrounds the perimeter of the athletic courts. The starting setup includes one tennis court, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and a pickleball court, which may change based on usage.  To meet visitors’ needs, there are restrooms, a greeters’ station, bag/shoe storage, a lounge/seating area and vending machines. Guests may check out tennis rackets and balls, volleyballs, pickleball paddles and balls and basketballs. All users must sign in on arrival, every time. Usage of the Jet Air Station will be free over the summer; memberships will be offered for the fall semester, with information to come.

Jackson College Astronomical Observatory Public Viewing.  9 PM to 11 PM.  Jackson College’s new Astronomical Observatory will hold public viewing nights on Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-11 p.m. (weather permitting) now through the month of July. Viewing nights provide the public with an opportunity to look through the new high-tech telescope to see the planets, the moon and stars. Astronomical Observatory Coordinator Talia Burns will be available to explain what guests may be looking at and to answer any related questions. Guests are also welcome to bring their own telescopes; the site has an outdoor platform area with several piers for amateur astronomers.  Those interested are advised to check the weather beforehand. The telescope is ADA compliant and accessible to people in wheelchairs. When entering Central Campus from Emmons Road, take the service drive to the left; the observatory is just beyond the softball and baseball fields.

Revive and Thrive  Vintage Market.  12 PM to 6 PM.  Today you are invited to Jackson’s first Revive and Thrive Vintage Market! The event will take place at ART 634, with over 20 vendors. Come out from 12-6 to enjoy a selection of curated vintage clothing, local artistic creations, and food and drinks from Tiki Sam’s Pizza, Junkyard Dog, and Jackson Coffee Company.  Art 634, 634 N.
