Kiwanis Summer Kids Movie Series at the Michigan Theatre, downtown Jackson.  Today, “Sherlock Gnomes” at 11 AM and 2 PM.  Garden gnomes, Gnomeo & Juliet, recruit renowned detective Sherlock Gnomes to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments.  Admission is $1.00  Doors open one half hour before movie.  Film starts at 11:00 AM and 2 PM.  Kids combos available for $4.00.

Family Night Concert Series at the Cascades. A wonderful way to spend a relaxing Wednesday night, enjoying great music and the beautiful Falls.  The Fossil Creek Band grew out of the farmlands of northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan back in the spring of 2006 and has since grown into one of the premier Bluegrass bands coming out of the Great Lakes region. The “Creekers” are known for their fun-loving, energetic performing style, tight harmonies and their original Bluegrass tunes.  Gates open at 7 PM.  $10 per family.

Nixon Beach Blowout.  This beach style event will be the party of the summer!  Ticket includes hot dog, chips, and drink.  We will have a DJ, beach themed giveaways, and more!  Tickets are limited and are selling fast!  5:30 PM to 8 PM, $6 per ticket.  Nixon Water Park.

Jackson Preparatory and Early College Information Night.  Today at McDonald’s, East Michigan Avenue.  5 PM to 7 PM.  Learn about the “New Kind of School” where every student succeeds with quality, personalized instruction and support.  More information at jacksonpec.org.

Mao Keyes Artist Reception.  Join us at K Gallery, 612 Page Ave, Jackson, MI on July 18th from 5 pm to 8 pm for an Artist Reception celebrating the talented Artist Mao Keys and her stunning oil paintings.  Mao Rungrawee Keys is a native of Thailand and currently living in Lambertville with husband Calvin. Her Art has been influenced by both her life in America and in Thailand. She sold her first painting at the prestigious Toledo Artist Club at the Botanical Gardens in Toledo, Ohio. She paints in a variety of themes. Her show runs July 18th through August 11.
