Ribbon Cutting and Open Enrollment Fair.  Jackson Public Schools invites the community to an Open House and Ribbon Cutting event at the new John R. Lewis Elementary School.  JPS is excited to open John R. Lewis Elementary to all Y5-5th Grade students.  The enrollment fair is from 10 AM to 6 PM.  Building tours, food, prizes!  The ribbon-cutting is at 4 PM.  John R. Lewis School, 154 West Clark Street, Jackson.  All are welcome! Also, save the date for the new Cascades School ribbon cutting:  August 4th at 4 PM.

Summer Kids Movie Series.  The Michigan Theatre, 124 N. Mechanic Street in Jackson is hosting a Summer Kids Series. There will be kid-friendly movies showing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 11 A.M. and 2 P.M. Sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Jackson, Robbie Curtis Charitable Trust, and Consumers Energy.  Doors open 30 Minutes before screening time.  $1 Admission.  $4 Kids Combo (Small Pop and Popcorn). This week’s movie:  Tom & Jerry.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Grass Lake Farmers Market and Music in the Park.  Farmers Market every Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM.  Music in the Park, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, 1st, 3rd, 4th Wednesday in July and EVERY Wednesday in August and September.  Tonight’s entertainment by John Louis Good.  Grass Lake Park Pavilion, Downtown Grass Lake.

Wednesday Family Night at The Cascades.  Family entertainment on the stage in front of The Cascades Falls.  The shows start at 7:30 PM.  Admission is $10 for up to 8 family members.  All shows are weather permitting.  Tonight, entertainment by Zion Lion.  Presented by Jackson County Parks and The Myers Family Little Caesars of Jackson.

Mobile FAFSA Food Event.  The College & Career Access Center presents these on-the-road events to help students complete their FAFSA application while enjoying a free lunch.  Today at Shahan Blackstone Apartments, 109 Shahan Drive.  2 PM to 4 PM.  The College & Career Access Center is presenting this important initiative to re-engage the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021, students whose post-secondary plans were impacted by the pandemic.

Jackson District Library Summer Reading Program:  Tails & Tales.  This week:  City Critters.  Presented by the Detroit Zoological Society, this program will introduce participants to the wild animals who share their neighborhoods, help them build empathy for these animals, and show them how they can help the animals.  This program will be available on JDL’s Facebook page and online at myjdl.com.

Wildlife Wednesday.  1 PM to 2 PM. Ella Sharp Museum.  Today: Flight Week.   Join Ella Sharp Museum for an up-close and personal encounter with a bird!  Utilizing live birds from the Michigan Avian Experience and pieces from the collection of wildlife art, visitors will have an opportunity for a personal encounter with a different species of birds each week. Cascades Splash Pad.  Monday thru Saturday, 11 AM to 7 PM.  Sunday 12 PM to 6 PM.  Fenced-in area on south side of Cascades Falls.  Zero-depth facility safe and fun for all ages.  12+ water features including waterfalls, arches, fountains ad getting poured on by the giant water bucket.  Lounge chairs, patio, concessions.  Season and family passes available, along with birthday party packages.  

Cascades Falls.  Open 8 PM to 11 PM Wednesday thru Sunday.  Ages 4 and up:  $2 admission.  Age 3 and under:  free.  Admission rates take effect at 7 PM.  JacksonCountyParks.org.
