The Jackson Law Enforcement Memorial.   12 PM.   TRUE Community City Square. This will be the first in-person memorial since 2019. The 2020 and 2021 public tributes were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of National Police Week, this annual event pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. This year’s memorial is organized by the Jackson Police Department Honor Guard. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police Jackson Post, and the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety are also participating. Law enforcement leaders from Jackson County will give remarks, with Undersheriff Chris Simpson delivering the keynote address. The names of Jackson County officers killed on the job will be read during the “Roll Call of Heroes”, followed by a gun salute and taps.  Horace Blackman Park, Downtown Jackson.

Board Game Night.  5 PM to 7 PM.  Adults and teens are invited to join us at the Summit Branch on the 2nd Wednesday of each month for board game night. You are welcome to bring your favorite games or just stop in to join a game. Enjoy old favorites and learn how to play games. Feel free to pop in, pop out, or stay the whole time!  Summit Branch, Jackson District Library.  

Exploration Stations.  Ella Sharp Museum presents a new children’s exhibition, Exploration Stations.  Developed by the Ella Sharp Museum, the 2,500 square-foot interactive exhibit features five themed stations — space, construction, home, nature and transportation — connected to unique aspects of the City of Jackson and Jackson County.  Ella Sharp Museum.

Wednesday Night Skate and Laser Tag.  6 PM to 8 PM.  Admission $8.  $4 for any type of skate rental, Skate Mates $5 + Deposit.  Super Fun Pass is only $14 includes Skating, rental skates, 10 game tokens each, and 1 game of Laser Tag.  Allskate Fun Center, 1313 W. North Street, Jackson.

Head Start and Early Head Start Sign-Up.  Community Action Agency is now accepting registrations for Early Head Start (pregnant women and ages 0-3) and Head Start (age 3 or 4 by December 1st).  Picture a bright future!  Apply now by calling 517-539-8336 or visiting greatstartjackson.org.

Eco-Friendly Gardening.  Jackson District Library.  Stop by any JDL branch to pick up an at-home gardening kit that includes a basil seed packet and small containers, so you can garden indoors or outdoors depending on the space you have available. Kits will also include information about planting the seeds and how to garden in a way that is sustainable and eco-friendly.  Available while supplies last.
