Lily Missionary Baptist Church 73rd Anniversary Celebration.   Lily Missionary Baptist church is celebrating 73 years of existence on Wednesday May 26, 2021 from 6:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m.  The celebration will consist of a drive-by dinner give away.   The menu includes fresh fish, chicken and ribs. Pastor Hines and the Lily Church family are inviting the community to share in this event.  Dinners are free. It is significant to note that the celebration will be highlighted by the unveiling of the beautiful, newly created Historical Church Library. The library includes photos, programs, and newspaper articles that tell of Lily’s journey from her foundation until now. A wealth of information has been captivated and presented in the library.  The public is invited to tour the library on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00  p.m.  The church anniversary celebration is an important event for the Lily church.  Pastor Hines stated that “The purpose in celebrating the church anniversary is to thank God for His perpetual provision and to honor those who sacrificed so much in the past so that the church would have so much today.”

Grass Lake Farmers Market and Music in the Park.  Farmers Market every Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM.  Music in the Park, every 1st and 3rd Wednesday (May and June), 1st, 3rd, 4th Wednesday in July and EVERY Wednesday in August and September.   Park Pavilion, Downtown Grass Lake.

Spring Arbor University Summer Sports Camps Registration.  Spring Arbor University is hosting 2021 Summer Sports Camps in July and July in the following areas:

  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Cheer
  • Golf
  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Volleyball

Camp dates, offerings and ages vary. Camps are available for kids age 4 through their senior year of high school.

Red Cross Blood Drives.   The American Red Cross urges all who are healthy to make this a summer full of life for patients by scheduling an appointment to give blood or platelets. As the nation transitions to a new, hopeful phase of this devastating pandemic and people begin to return to some of their favorite activities, the Red Cross is concerned about the impact this could have on blood donor turnout and the blood supply this summer. The need for lifesaving blood transfusions never takes a break. It’s critical to have blood ready to go when every second counts.

Voices and Votes:  Democracy in America.  Lost Railway Museum, Downtown Grass Lake.  Voices and Votes is based on a major exhibition currently on display at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. This Museum on Main Street adaptation will have many of the same dynamic features: historical and contemporary photos; educational and archival video; engaging multimedia interactives with short games and additional footage, photos, and information; and historical objects like campaign souvenirs, voter memorabilia, and protest material.  How do you participate as a citizen? From the revolution and suffrage, to civil rights and casting ballots, everyone in every community is part of this ever-evolving story – the story of democracy in America.  May 15 to June 27.

Jackson County Student Art Show.  The Jackson County Student Art Show is presented online. Jackson Art Teachers are excited to celebrate the amazing artwork from the talented students from the Jackson area. The judging is now complete. Congratulations to all of the award winners!
