Virtual Military Academy Fair.  On Wednesday, November 10, Congressman Tim Walberg will be hosting a virtual academy fair for students and parents to learn more about the education opportunities at U. S. military service academies.  It will take place from 6 to 7 PM over ZOOM.  Representatives from these excellent institutions will share information and answer questions.  Additionally, information will be provided on the service academy nomination process.  To register, please visit walberg.house.gov.  Or call Congressman Walberg’s office at 517-780-9075 with any questions.

For All the World To See: Visual Culture and the Struggle for Civil Right.  Opening Day!  On View November 10, 2021 – January 8, 2022.  Ella Sharp Museum.  For All the World To See examines the role that visual culture played in shaping and transforming the struggle for racial equality in America from the late 1940s to the mid-1970s. Through a compelling assortment of photographs, television clips, art posters, and other historic artifacts, For All the World to See traces how images and media disseminated to the American public transformed the modern civil rights movement and jolted Americans, both black and white, out of a state of denial or complacency.

The Future of Comedy Show.  On this episode we have a very special show with Maxim Magazine’s Comedian of the year, Rob Little featuring FOCS regular, Mike Ball. Doors are at 7pm and show begins at 8pm.  308 Brass Rail, 308 West Prospect Street, Jackson.

Wednesday Skate and Laser Tag.  6:00-8:00pm.  Admission $8.  $4 for any type of skate rental / Skate Mates $5 + Deposit.  Super Fun Pass only $14 includes: Skating, rental skates, 10 game tokens each, 1 game of Laser Tag.  Laser Tag Hours  6-8pm.  1 Play: $6 Double Play: $9.  Allskate Fun Center, 1313 West North Street, Jackson. 

Weekly Food Drop.  The Weekly Food Drops will take place every Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Volunteers will be distributing pre-assembled food boxes directly to cars at The Arbor Church, 120 East Main Street, Spring Arbor.  No restrictions, everyone is welcome. While supplies last! 

Henrietta Branch Winter Silent Auction.  Jackson District Library Henrietta Branch  The Henrietta Friends of the Library are hosting their annual Winter Silent Auction November 2-30. Stop by during open hours to bid on a wide variety of items just in time for the holiday season.  We’ll have crafts, gift cards, and more! Bidding will close at 6 PM on Tuesday, November 30.

Hot Air Jubilee Art Contest.  The Hot Air Jubilee is hosting an art contest!  The contest is open to legal residents of the State of Michigan. Contestants must be age 13 or older at time of entry.  Parents or guardians of minors under the age of 13 can submit entries on behalf of their minor(s). The Hot Air Jubilee is looking for art submissions that will be used in marketing the 2022 festival.. NaNoWriMo.  Always wanted to be a writer? Working through writer’s block? In celebration of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) Jackson District Library invites you to write/submit your short story on this  year’s ConCon theme, Reanimation.
