Veterans Day Ceremony.  11 AM, Withington Park (corner of Michigan and First Street) Downtown Jackson.  The Jackson County Veterans Council hosts this annual tribute to our community’s Veterans.  Always on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, recognizing the time the armistice went into effect, ending World War 1.  Withington Park features the sculpture Defense of the Flag, Withington Park is named after Gen. William H. Withington. The sculpture honors the 3,282 men of the Michigan Volunteer Infantry regiments who he commanded. The sculpture is also known as Jackson County Soldiers or Sailors Monument.

Popcorn Drive Up Pickup. Sponsored In Memory of Leo and Beulah Lammers. Pull up on Mechanic Street (under the Michigan Theatre Marquee) between 5:00 and 6:30 P.M. for your free box (or boxes) of Michigan Theatre popcorn!  Just pull up and one of our masked and gloved representatives will hand you the popcorn.

Wednesday Skate and Laser Tag.  Allskate Fun Center.  6:00-8:00pm.  Admission $8, $4 for any type of skate rental. ALL GUESTS 5 yrs old & older are required to wear a mask.  Masks are NOT required while eating at table/bench seating or while on skating floor.  Masks are available for those that may have forgotten to bring theirs for $1.  All staff will be wearing masks.  We are limiting our building capacity to 15%.  This is a 25,000 square foot facility. There is plenty of room for social distance.  Laser Tag Hours:  6:00pm-8pm.  1 Play: $6 Double Play: $9.  All Music is Censored.  Allskate Fun Center, 1313 W. North Street.

2020 Adopt-A-Family Presented by Community Action Agency.  Community Action Agency is seeking support for its 2020 Adopt-a-Family Campaign, to help make the holidays a little brighter for those who face the prospect of being unable to celebrate the season.  Secure financial contributions can be made by clicking on the “Donate” button on the CAA website (www.caajlh.org) and then selecting “Adopt-a-Family Holidays 2020” from the drop- down menu. For those who still wish to shop, a list for an identified family will be provided by CAA. The families waiting to be adopted are from CAA’s tri-county service area which includes Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale counties.   Those wishing to adopt a family may make a secure donation through the “Donate” button on the CAA website (www.caajlh.org) or may also contact Steve York at (517) 539-8310 or by email at: syork@caajlh.org.  Due to COVID-19, CAA is modifying the program this holiday season.  In-person operations will be limited.  If you would still like to adopt a family in the traditional way, this option may be available on a limited basis.

Salvation Army Food Pantry.  The Salvation Army of Jackson County Food Pantry Hours:  Regular Pantry Hours are 10 am-noon and 1-2 pm Monday through Thursday.  Food Boxes are available every 30 days. In an emergency food may be provided from 2-4:30 pm -please call ahead – 517-782-7185.   

Red Cross Blood Drives.  There is a critical need for blood donations.  All blood drives are by appointment only.  See the complete schedule and reserve your time at redcrossblood.org.
