Harold White Sr. Awards Breakfast.  7:30 AM.  The City of Jackson Human Relations Commission presents the Harold White Sr. Awards Breakfast, an annual event that celebrates local residents and organizations making a difference through volunteering, diversity, and inclusion. The breakfast will take place on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:30 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 1107 Adrian Street, Jackson, MI 49203. Each year, the HRC honors individuals and organizations whose work strengthens the Jackson community through outstanding contributions.  Tickets are $25 per person.

Movie Night at the Michigan Theatre:  “Enough”.  7 PM.  Hosted by AWARE.  Join Us for a Movie Night at the Michigan Theatre of Jackson!  We are so excited to raise awareness during Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a powerful film that inspires conversation!  Tickets will be available for purchase at a “pay what you can” rate, making this event open to everyone.  We invite the entire community to come out, show your support, and experience our one-of-a-kind Domestic Violence Awareness Month inspired clothing piece created in collaboration with ART 634 for their fashion week!

Fall Rummage & Book Sale. Join us for our fall Rummage & Book Donation Sale! Come find treasures, books, and more—all while supporting local missions in our community.  Wednesday, October 22 | 3:00 – 7:00 PM.  Thursday, October 23 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  Special: Everything is FREE Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM!  First United Methodist Church, 275 W Michigan Ave (also entry on Cortland St).  Downtown Jackson.  Everything is by donation only and all proceeds benefit local missions through United Women in Faith, supporting:  Jackson Friendly Home, John George Home, Laundry Angels and SOAR.  Come shop, donate, and make a difference in our community!

Astronomy Speaker Dr. Nicole Zellner at Jackson College. 6 PM.  Jackson College invites the community to an evening of exploration and discovery with astronomy guest speaker Dr. Nicolle Zellner, planetary scientist and award-winning public communicator, on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025. Dr. Zellner will present about the impacts in the solar system and what effects impactors might have had on life on Earth, at 6 p.m. in James McDivitt Hall, Room 216. Following her talk, the evening will include a Q&A session and—weather permitting—night sky observations at the College’s Astronomical Observatory.  The evening’s schedule is as follows:  Presentation: 6 – 7 p.m.  Q&A: 7 – 7:30 p.m.  Viewing at the Observatory: 7:30 – 11 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Dress Like a Star Observing Night.  Jackson College Astronomical Observatory invites you to a special evening in collaboration with Art 634 and Jackson Fashion Week: Dress Like a Star Observing Night! Guests are encouraged to wear their best star-themed outfits. The observatory will be open (weather permitting) from 9 – 11 p.m. for night sky viewing and fashion under the stars.

A Taste of Ireland – The Irish Music and Dance Sensation. 7:30 PM.   One of the world’s top Irish dance shows, featuring a starry roster of international dance champions, A Taste of Ireland—The Irish Music & Dance Sensation offers an exhilarating celebration delivered with more than a pint of Irish wit. A Taste of Ireland—The Irish Music & Dance Sensation is presented by Pace Live as part of its 2025 world tour. The production debuted in the U.S. in 2024 with a wildly successful Off-Broadway engagement, followed by smash hit runs around the world, where it was praised by Time Out Sydney as “world-class Irish dancing, melodic folk music mashups, live acapella tap battles, and craic galore,” and BroadwayWorld Sydney as “an evening to excite and satisfy your Irish palette.”  Potter Center Music Hall, Jackson College.
